ICE Union: Immigration Bill proposal 'does nothing' to resolve enforcement concerns

The union representing Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents has long complained that the Obama administration has made their job harder by preventing agents from detaining and deporting select illegal immigrants. They had petitioned members of the so-called "Gang of Eight" -- the lawmakers writing the immigration bill -- to address those concerns in the package.
But, in a letter obtained by FoxNews.com, National ICE Council President Chris Crane said "this legislation again does nothing to resolve that."
The letter was sent Tuesday to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a key member of the Gang of Eight, shortly before the legislation was formally released. Crane thanked Rubio for meeting with him, a meeting he had long sought, but complained that the bill did not address his concerns.
"In fact, it appears that the security components it does contain focus mostly on the exterior, and rely on the discretion of DHS, even though DHS is in federal court right now for undermining the constitutional rule of law," Crane wrote, referring to a lawsuit brought by ICE agents.

I do not believe that this bill does nothing about enforcement..it requires that the agencies create a plan and that Congress oversees that plan. What else is it supposed to do? Thus far the only thing that all the naysayers have accomplished is to complain about a bill most of them know nothing about. This bill has more enforcement measures than any bill of its kind in history...now if you just want to choose to believe it is all a fraud, then there is nothing rational anyone can say to make you change your mind.

That and alienate and entire demographic.

It should do NOTHING until the border is secure first.

Let those illegals live in the shadows a little longer UNTIL Border security is achieved.

We don't need any more new laws from Washington politicians, when they won't enforce the laws that we already have in place.

If they won't enforce our current immigration laws BEFORE an amnesty bill passes, what on God's green earth makes anyone think they'll enforce our immigration laws AFTER an amnesty bill passes?!?!?

We've seen this movie before with the DISASTROUS 1986 amnesty legislation which gave immediate citizenship to 3 million illegal aliens - DOUBLE the 1.5 million official estimate prior to the bill's passing - and millions upon millions of their family members through chain immigration.

To add insult to injury, Hispanic-Americans did NOT reward the GOP for passing and signing the 1986 amnesty legislation, but did the exact opposite, FLEEING THE PARTY IN DROVES during the 1988 election cycle and subsequent ones.

GOP presidential candidates John McCain, Bob Dole and Bush Sr. all supported amnesty for illegal aliens, yet all 3 were soundly rejected by Hispanic-Americans on election day, just like Mitt Romney was, or worse.

Granting amnesty, citizenship and voting rights to another 20 to 40 million undocumented Democrats from poverty-stricken Third World countries in Latin America is not the answer for the GOP.

Quite the contrary, it would guarantee a permanent Democrat majority in the U.S. as far and wide as the eye can see, which is exactly why every Democrat politician in the nation is praying for it day and night.

Terry,

You are dreaming if you think the 11 million LaRaza low income hispanics will vote Republican. This bill does nothing to secure the border. Rubio is lying through his teeth. Even Rick Perry said Rubio should drop out of the gang due to the lousy enforcement measures in the bill.
