Eric Holder: Amnesty is a 'Civil Right'

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, in remarks that largely have escaped notice, has claimed that “creating a mechanism for [illegal aliens] to earn citizenship and move out of the shadows… is a matter of civil and human rights.”
[...]
Holder made these remarks in an April 24 speech to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund Awards Gala. MALDEF’s notable activity includes suing Sheriff Joe Arpaio and opposing Arizona’s immigration law.
Read the whole story HERE and listen to his words below:
"Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential. The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented – by creating a mechanism for them to earn citizenship and move out of the shadows – transcends the issue of immigration status. This is a matter of civil and human rights. It is about who we are as a nation. And it goes to the core of our treasured American principle of equal opportunity."

Illegal aliens, just like any other fugitives from justice, are perfectly free to "move out of the shadows" anytime they want to simply by turning themselves into the authorities.

The LAST thing we should do is reward them for breaking our laws by granting them amnesty - i.e. any type of legal resident status - because that will only encourage more illegal immigration from abroad.

As Texas Senator Ted Cruz has so cogently stated, "granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens is PROFOUNDLY UNFAIR to the millions of foreigners waiting on line to immigrate legally to the U.S., and it's also NOT CONSISTENT WITH THE RULE OF LAW."

If only Mitt "Self-Deport" Romney had been as cogent on this subject as Cruz is, Obama and Eric Holder would be distant memories.

Newark, let it go! (your fixation with Mitt) hahahahahaha.

You are delusional.

And BTW, Mitt said the same thing Cruz said a thousand times. I heard it with my own ears. I guess you were not paying attention.
