Arizona Bill would require HS Students to swear oath to the Constitution to receive their Diplomas

A bill making its way through the Arizona state legislature would require public high school students to swear an oath to defend the Constitution before they receive their diplomas.
[...]
I, _________, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; So help me God.

This is a little weird, even for me. Either you've 'EARNED' the diploma by your grades or you haven't. This oath although well meaning is a bit much.

I'm glad the sponsor of the bill is planning to add an amendment to it making it optional rather than mandatory.
