Will Twinkies go the way of the Dodo Bird?

It's looking like 18,000 workers would rather have no jobs than to come to an agreement with their employer Hostess Cakes:

Times UP?
Northwood Hostess workers continue to strike despite the passage of a deadline given by the company. The company told employees if they did not return to work by 5 p.m. Thursday, it will go into liquidation and completely shut down across the country.
Workers have been on strike since Friday and have camped out with bonfires and signs, chanting the slogan, "no dough no bread." According to the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union, a total of 24 Hostess production facilities are on strike or honoring the strike with picket lines. Additionally, BCTGM members at one transport facility are on strike.
Workers say they do not want to see the company go bankrupt, but are upset over 8 percent pay cuts, 20 percent increased health care costs and pension plans in place. They put the blame on management saying top leaders got 300 percent pay increases, while their pay got slashed. Workers also feel the company does not guarantee them an eight-hour work day. (emphasis mine: I wonder how many voted for Obama?)

Oh no, that shouldn't be! I love Twinkies and despite what people may say about it, it's a great stress reliever too. I do hope this won't come true.

This is a wonderful example of the stupidity of the unions & their members. In the middle of a recession/depression, they go on strike. Management informs them they cannot pay the increased wages and are facing other increased healthcare costs.

The union continues the strike, management closes the company. Who wins? No one.

Only the company that buys Hostess will benefit as all the legacy costs associated with the union are gone. I believe, we will see much more of this until the union folks finally get the message that strikes = death of their jobs & membership.

Unions will never go away as long as you have politicians like Obama and the Chicago gang keeping them alive. There is too much money to be made for the corrupt politicians with the existence unions.

There need to be laws against International unions. They don't care about the workers and they are anti-american. They push for foreign interests that compete with America. Let's stop the insanity, and end the existence of "international" unions in America.
