Going on Disability seems to be an epidemic

Bobby Jindal penned an op-ed the other day at Red State titled, 'Declaration of Independence, Not Dependence'. No doubt he was feeling the same frustration that most TAX PAYERS feel about entitlements...like Going on "Disability" and NOT BEING DISABLED.

Bill O'Reilly has gone so far as to call the increasing numbers, a massive 'Disability Con':

Is your blood boiling yet? You drag yourself out of bed everyday.... head off to work. Maybe your lucky enough to enjoy what you do. But even those TAXPAYERS who don't like what they do, go off to work anyway. They  know that the money they EARN pays the rent and puts food on the table and most take pride in that.

Here are some statistics that were hidden in the just released job numbers:
More workers joined the federal government's disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation's jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.
The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.

The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama's recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.
And there is more on this HERE.

Now I didn't post this to ruin anyone's weekend.....so chill out....know that your weekend ends tomorrow.....and many of the folks above who are scamming the system.....well, their weekend go's on.....and on....and on...

This kind of practice has long been happening in Europe (especially Greece) and Canada. Unfortunately, America is catching up with the rest of the world in a bad way.

Until their is a system in place to curb this abuse, the deadbeats and low lifes will take advantage of it.

The government is running out of money. President Romney won't spend money we don't have. Especially on fakers like these.

"Is your blood boiling yet?" Been boilin' for a long time Bosman. Great stuff here. Just another facet of our 'Great Nanny State' under obama. Had enough yet?

Let's drill down on this from the IBD link, specifically the recovery:

"In addition, while hiring has been very weak during the recovery, the number of people who have dropped out of the labor force entirely has exploded by 7.3 million since June 2009, an IBD analysis of BLS data show. Some aged into retirement, but most either signed up for disability, stayed in school, moved back in with parents, or just quit looking for a job."

Three graphs from the Calculated Risk Blog hammer home the point of "there is no recovery:"

1) Duration of unemployment of the civilian work force.

2) Job loss comparisons, for the Great Depression, the current 2007 recession/depression, & the average for several modern recessions prior to this financial crisis.

3) A comparison of job losses for all post WW II recessions.

Can anyone truthfully say we have a 'recovery?' Can anyone say that since 1980, the Keynesian stimulus methods have worked? While the job losses have been mitigated, the duration length & return to recovery has been dramatically increased. Now the Gov't is allowing phoney disability claims to mitigate the unemployment situation 'solving,' but never 'fixing' the problem. Solution: liquidate the bad debts & zombie companies, get Gov't intervention out of the private sector, let free markets allocate capital to new & more efficient businesses creating job growth & a growing middle class. This is not rocket science folks, just time tested, tried & true capitalism!

But Ohio Joe, don't you know we have to catch up with the rest of the world? We have to have a crappy communal health care system, high gas prices, low censorship, and epidemic sexual promiscuity.

Otherwise we'll never be at the top of the wor...

oh wait...

@ Graham

Yes, there is little censorship of pornography in America(if that's what you were referring to), but there is extensive censorship of the media & free speech.

How else do you explain the fact that a handful of like-minded, politically correct media moguls dominate America's mass media, a.k.a. "the public airwaves"?

Public my ass. FDR illegally & unconstitutionally privatized the public airwaves 80 years ago specifically for the purpose of allowing the likes of Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch & Jeffrey Immelt to do the censorship for him, with unelected, unaccountable FCC commissioners faithfully executing their duties as the speech police.

If anyone thinks that CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, FOX, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin & Glenn Beck are living proof that a free press & free speech are alive & well in America, they better think again.

Uncle Sam & the FCC keeps all of them on a very short leash.

Sorry for the rant, but somebody has to say it.
