Question for Mitt Romney

It is almost certain that my husband (Machtyn) and I will have the opportunity to meet Mitt Romney this Thursday at a fund raiser. I hope to have the opportunity to ask him a question, but I want to make it a good one. If you had the opportunity to ask him a question, what would you ask him? If all goes as planned, I will write a post about our experience, including the question(s) asked and his answer. Unfortunately I am not a very good reporter, but I'll do the best I can.

As president, what would he do to assure that we do not get another unqualified socialist in the White House again?

(I'm envious! Tell us all about it!)

Well Noelle, I would ask..

You want to increase Department of Defense spending, cut taxes while not touching entitlement benefits for current recipients. How do you expect to make a dent in the deficit?

In what ways do you think Obama has exceeded his executive powers as President? How can the President be held accountable more effectively so that this doesn't happen in the future?

What does Romney think about Czars and leading by Executive orders? Will he utilize as many Czars as Obama or will he remove the Czar role from the Executive branch?

Have fun at the fundraiser and tell our future president that he has a very large group of loyal supporters who voluntarily promote his candidacy on the internet....ha ha:)

Matt: That's a question I think I will ask him. "What will you do to reverse the serious restrictions of civil liberties Obama and other past Presidents have enacted?"

Of the people who have responded so far, I think I would pick Pablo to ask the question. Come on, people!

Which American President do you admire most and why?

The thing I fear the most right now if the massive deficit that we have and it is growing by the day under the Obama administration. In four more years we will be Greece!!!!!! And I really don't think there is anyone who will come to our defense. We are mortgaging our future and the future of those to come if we do not do something about it NOW. We are NOT too big to fail.

What kind of directions will you give to a Constitution, America loving Attorney General on Day 1?

We have another winner from anon at XX:49. If you ask him that one, make him be specific.

1) What steps will your campaign take to reach out to Hispanic voters?

2) What are your most important criteria for selecting a VP?

3) What are examples of issues you feel are worth compromising on with the other side of the aisle and what are ones you will not budge on?

4) Would you need a Senate and House majority to get things done?

5) If you could do MassCare over again with a blank slate, what would you do differently?

6) As President, will we see more of the a) Bain Romney, b) Olympics Romney, or c) Governor Romney?

7) How specifically do you intend to use your VP?

8) Have you ever visited RightSpeak and if so, what do you want us to do with RWN?

hamaca,

He needs people like me. Most won't understand, so I won't even try to explain it.

Hamaca,

Those are some excellent questions, especially about compromising. My guess is that you will hear Romney talking more about working across the aisle in the days to come. However, he may want to get all the way through the primaries first.

Hi Noelle,

I have a question...I was wondering if anyone on this board could answer this question. Is Romney going to cut the deductions for charitable givings? If so..I have a real problem with this because this will greatly impact religious charitable groups like Catholic charities. These groups are extremely valuable in helping those in need at the local level. By cutting this deduction, I feel that this would greatly impact the funding for these groups. Just my thoughts.

RWN: I agree, Romney does need people like you. (Don't read any sarcasm into that, as none was meant.)

leighrow: I don't think he would cut that deduction. The LDS church would be fine, because its members understand the full tithe of 10%, but their "fast offering" donations may tumble. But more to the broader point, Romney understands that charities, like the Catholic, LDS, and other church charities provide INCREDIBLE services to the poor and needy in a much more efficient and self-worth promoting way. That is, what one might get from government may not require the recipient to do anything. But a charity may require a commitment of some sort. (Such as, if you are capable, get yourself a job while we assist with your rent - and, NO, we're not going to provide you with CableTV and HBO.)

hamaca: I like question 7.

Thanks Machtyn. I hope you are right.

I asked because I had heard otherwise from some right wing pundits.
