Gallup Daily Tracking Poll: Only 1 point separate Obama and Romney

Barack Obama 47% (48%)
Mitt Romney 46% 45%
A survey of 2,265 registered voters was conducted April 23-28, 2012. The MOE is +/-3%.

Gallup now has Romney up by one. I am beginning to wonder about these polls.

Scott Rasmussen samples likely voters, whereas other pollsters sample registered voters.

Registered voters tend to vote for Democrats more than likely voters do.

Only 60% of registered voters actually vote in presidential elections.

Rasmussen's early polling has historically been the most accurate of all the major pollsters.

For example, in the spring of 2010, Rasmussen was the only major pollster who had the GOP winning back control of the House of Representatives, although even Rasmussen grossly underestimated the GOP's margin of victory.

History tends to repeat itself, especially in the political polling business.
