Rick Santorum stood with Arlen Specter at a Pro-Choice Rally (VIDEO)

H/t to Nate Gunderson at MRC

On March 31, 1995, Arlen Specter announced his candidacy for President of the United States, to challenge the incumbent Bill Clinton. He entered the race claiming his party needed a candidate who did not conform to the stereotypical religious conservative image. He was critical of Pat Buchanan, Pat Robertson and Ralph Reed, saying all three were far too conservative.

The following is a pro-choice excerpt from a campaign event:

Poor Rick, he was clapping so hard at Arlen Specter's words, I was afraid he'd develop clapper's burn. Do you think this 1995 video is one that Rick hoped hadn't been saved for posterity?

I know...I know...Rick didn't realize it was a pro-choice rally, even though the signs were everywhere and Specter was running with that issue as part of his platform.

BTW, Did you notice how much Rick was smiling and enjoying himself? They say people are most comfortable when they're in their own element.

It just blows my mind how Santorum stands there pretending to be evangelical (when in fact he is a Roman Catholic) and lies about Romney.

Why aren't his own followers vetting him? Do they understand he isn't being honest with THEM?

Santorum supporters have him on such a high pedestal, as a social, true, pure conservative, that they probably wouldn't fathom the thought such a video of him like this exist--but it does!

Great find, great post, Bosman.

This proves once-and-for-all what a total fake, phony, fraud Tricky Ricky is.

Until Tricky Ricky came along, I thought Newt was the most dishonest, deceitful & disingenuous of the ABR candidates.

But Tricky Ricky has Newt beat by a country mile, and then some.

Again, great find & great post, Bosman. And funny too! LOL

This video is pure oppo-gold! Rick Santorum--sitting in a place of honor behind his endorsed presidential candidate-- enthusiastically smiles and applauds Arlen Specter, who has just defiantly proclaimed his PRO-CHOICE position as a Republican. Not only that, Rick cheerfully rises to support the man who has just CONDEMNED Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, and Pat Buchanan for their narrow anti-abortion positions.

Wow! Just, wow! This clip has to go viral.

For years, it is Romney who has borne the hatred and ridicule of the Right for "flip-flopping" on the abortion issue. Well, let's see how Rick's Evangelical congregations at one of his frequent Sunday appearances will respond to this video.

As a Catholic, even back in 1995, Rick has some explaining to do for supporting a presidential candidate who clearly endorsed abortion rights and wanted to defeat the vocal Republicans and Christian leaders who opposed "a woman's right to choose."

Rick, Rick. What a two-faced politician you were then and are now. Get a grip, man. Look at yourself in a mirror. Better yet, look at yourself in this video.

Funny, with Rick so willing to take one for the team vows now to fight on after loosing in WI, all the NE and probably in PA, because May is more friendly territory. Rick, take one for the team and call it quits, or go on the attack of Obama.
