Sarah Palin defends Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul

Today on Fox News, Former Governor Sarah Palin defended Newt Gingrich against coordinated attacks by the GOP establishment and underscores Ron Paul's fight to cut spending.

"On the domestic front he (Ron Paul) is the only one who has been so adamantly passionate about doing something about the suffocating debt, about doing something about reining in government growth and actually slashing budgets - $1 trillion a year, he’s been specific about until we get our hands around this. I respect that, I appreciate it."

"Look at Newt Gingrich, what's going on with him via the establishment's attacks. They are trying to crucify this man and rewrite history, rewrite what it is that he has stood for all these years.

So it's not just Ron Paul, I believe it's also Newt Gingrich that the establishment, liberal media, certainly, that the progressives and the Democrats don't like."

TC, let's have a look at that deficit issue that everyone can relate to. Simple math sans comment:

As always, it seems, the REAL issues are ignored, not commented on, or swept under the rug. Time wasted in the debates not focused on the REAL issues just perpetuates the problems for whoever is elected President.

Am I supposed to care that she defends Gingrich?

I watched so you don't have to. Thank me later.

It's the 4:49 mark where she starts talking about Paul and her poor little Newtered man.

Heaven knows you should not have to wade through the first 5 minutes of the tortured mess that passes for Palin speech.

I'm glad Palin is backing Newt. I've been hoping for her irrelevance for a while. This act will hasten her disappearance.

The piece on Abrams attack and Sarah defending Moonbeam would have had a bite and some retribution on Mitt had Newty not poo poo'd all over the stage last night...Moonbeam should be finished now...God help us all if he's not.

Moonbeam crying about the audience last night...this just keeps getting better and better...Great day to be Gordon!

If Sarah Palin backs Newt Gingrich, she is making a mockery of everything she claims to stand for...and btw, Gingrich is the establishment and has been for more than 40 freaking years.

Sarah states: So it's not just Ron Paul, I believe it's also Newt Gingrich that the establishment, liberal media, certainly, that the (progressives) and the Democrats don't like."

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. You're buddy Glenn Beck isn't going to be happy with you. It didn't take him long to find quote after quote after quote of Newt himself claiming to be a progressive. Why then, as you suggest, would fellow progressives be trying to take him down? Besides, you ignore ALL of the attacks by the DNC, the labor unions, the Obama adminstration, and all the rest who attack Mitt relentlessly. Do those not count? It's not just the "so-called" conservatives like yourself and Fox and talk radio that are attacking Mitt....Maybe there's a reason. hmmmmmm

How cowardly is this woman? She has told voters to vote for Newt Gingrich but will not stake her political future on an endorsement. She pretends to be a "maverick" like John McCain but she is 100% political and I mean that in the worst way. She is a complete coward and I think it is sad that America pays her any attention. She was a big part of the 2008 defeat and she wants to be a part of a Newt Gingrich disaster. If I were her I would read John McCains book "Why Courage Matters" and less time plotting my political comeback.

Actually, she was part of the reason that allowed me to vote for McCain.

But, yeah, she has gone "hollywood".

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but if I were, I might accuse Sarah Palin of defending and basically backing Newt because she KNOWS he'll lose and leave an open spot for her on the GOP ticket in 2016. How's that for a conspiracy theory? LOL! :)

Seriously, all of these theories are a little far-fetched to me, but I can see people accusing Romney of doing that if the roles were reversed. Remember that when you start going down that road, those of you ABR's. What goes around can come around, too.

Sarah seems to be as ambiguous about her endorsements as she was about running for President. Almost ran, but never quite. Almost endorsed, but never quite. It does make one wonder if she has a core or not, doesn't it?

I actually used to like and defended Palin. She has turned into a media whore and has lost all of my respect.

Sorry Martha, you were right all all along.

AZ,

I have made that point all along, Palin is all about Palin and her next big idea is 2016. So she is hitting at Romney at every turn, even saying that she believes Obama wants to run against Romney because they can beat him. So she is propping Newt up by sending out Todd Palin, and then telling South Carolinians to vote Newt.Palin has ignored Newt's record because she wants him to be the nominee, lose to Obama and she will be waiting in 2016. She knows Romney may beat Obama and hamper her chances in 2016.
