Rick Perry: Oops (Part 2...or is it 3..4? Oh, I've lost count)

Rick Perry stumbled again on the campaign trail, this time forgetting the number of justices on the Supreme Court and the name of Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The comments came as Perry was asked by The Des Moines Register editorial board about a controversial campaign ad in which he accuses President Obama of waging a “war on religion.”

“I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a Christian,” Perry says in the ad, before declaring that “as president, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion.”

As evidence of this claim, Perry pointed to the president’s appointments to the high court.

“When you see his appointment of two, from my perspective, inarguably activist judges, whether it was …” Perry said, then was unable to come up with the name of Sotomayor. At one point, Perry guessed that the justice’s name was “Montemayor,” before a member of the paper’s editorial board stepped in and provided him the name he was searching for.

Bosman, I'm feeling sorrier for Perry every day now. The man has made a national embarrassment of himself, yet probably doesn't even realize it completely. His only hope is playing the Christian card to the max, and coming in a respectable 4th. Then maybe he can withdraw with what little dignity he has left.
