Mitt Romney responds to Newt Gingrich on the Sean Hannity Radio Show (FULL AUDIO 11-30-11)

Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney responds to Newt Gingrich saying he is "a lot more conservative" than the former Massachusetts governor. "I don't claim to be the perfect candidate, I just claim to be a lot more conservative than Mitt Romney. And a lot more electable than anyone else," Gingrich said earlier this week.

"I would take exception with him on his characterization of his 'conservative credentials' relative to mine or his electability, that’s something which time will tell," Mitt Romney said on Sean Hannity's radio show.

"We'll get a good chance to see our positions on issues and electability, of course, is always something which changes over time as people get a closer look at folks. So we'll see how that works out," he said. "I don’t want to take exception with him. I'll just say, look, we'll see how that plays out over time and let people make their own judgment."

IF Gingrich is correct about being more conservative, then he's dead wrong about being more electable. Electability is solely dependent on taking about 6-7 swing states. And that is solely dependent on getting enough independent voters to take that state. The further to the right a candidate is, the fewer independents he/she will get because independents tend to be in the middle ground between the left & right. Therefore, if Gingrich is more conservative than Romeny, then Romney is more electable that Gingrich. To make such a statement also calls into question Gingrich's judgement.

But Newt knows this, so if one does not question Newt's character after all his affairs and divorces, then his lying about this subject ought to do the trick. He's dishonest at his core. I'll take a pass on Newt.
