Erick Erickson Joins Obama's Campaign Staff

Erick may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but he knows how to breathlessly distribute hyperbole.
Mitt Romney, on the other hand, is a man devoid of any principles other than getting himself elected. As much as the American public does not like Barack Obama, they loath a man so fueled with ambition that he will say or do anything to get himself elected. Mitt Romney is that man.

I’ve been reading the 200 pages of single spaced opposition research from the John McCain campaign on Mitt Romney. There is no issue I can find on which Mitt Romney has not taken both sides. He is neither liberal nor conservative. He is simply unprincipled. The man has no core beliefs other than in himself.
Wow, I know it is campaign season and the Tea Party has utterly failed at producing a credible candidate, but really?

Anyway, I post this not because I care what Erick Erickson thinks. I just want to make another appeal to the Romney fans. Observe this, take it in, and remember it. This is the majority of today's conservative movement. Erick and Rush and the rest of the talk radio entourage are sick to death at the possibility that the eventual Republican nominee is likely to be a guy who has no intention of carrying out their cultural war.

At least I hope.

My status as a Republican depends on two hopeful paths. First, Romney wins the nomination and general election and then proceeds to give talk radio the finger. In other words, he shows leadership and governs. Second, a Tea Party candidate wins the nomination and then gets blown out by Barack Obama. It is better to destroy the whole mothership and rebuild. We need to get the crazy out of us so we can return to the days of William Buckley.

Here is to hoping that a President Romney will not try to appease the very people who hate him now.

What's the problem? Erickson expressed his opinion. Just because you disagree with him, he's working for Obama? Youve had much tougher words for his Romneys opponents. Does that mean you work for Obama too?

I agree with everything Erickson said.

This is bigger than Romney. The way the party has treated Romney is just a symptom of a far bigger problem, with the truth and with any kind of moral standards.

This is apparent in the way they are lining up to back Cain in spite of overwhelming evidence. Honestly, the evidence is just too much to pretend that Cain is innocent. No other polician would be getting this kind of cover!!!!

The Republican party has no moral compass, no standard of conduct, the party has completely lost it's way. They have become what we always knew the left was. Now the Republican Party is only hypocrisy.

Right now Fox is shilling for Cain like crazy. They wouldn't even carry the press conference. They wouldn't even consider that these women were victimized by a very powerful man! They are attacking the women, instead of the man who attacked the women. Disgusting!

Fox is lying. Ericksen is lying.

There is no honor left in the Republican party.

I am now an Independent. I am not going to associate myself with this evilness.

Pablo,

Ever the loyal ReFrumlican....as long as "your guy" is the candidate. What a shock, another "responsible moderate" who demands loyalty from the Conservatives but tells them to kiss off if he doesn't get his way.

At least I don't have to worry about being in the GOP if you get your way....I'm sure I will be removed in the 1st ReFrumlican Purge.

AJR,

When I was a conservative I believed that conservatives cared about character.

Now I know that everything conservatives say is a lie, from Romney to Cain.

Good is bad, and bad is good.

Keep your conservatism, I am not that kind of conservative.

Eriksen is just a blowhard.

The title of his piece, "Mitt Romney as the Nominee: Conservatism Dies and Barack Obama Wins" is a bigger joke than he is.

"Conservatism Dies and Barack Obama Wins" only if the DIM WITTED wing of the Republican party listen to him and others like Rushbo, rather than REALITY of what the state our country is in.

Any FOOL that thinks that Romney would be no better than Obama are denying the facts of Romney's strengths.

With Obama I get 0% of what I want with Romney, 75%.

It's THE MATH stupid!

I'd imagine that if he is reading that opposition research, he is likely not getting the full story. Unless he is going to the sources and reading the entire bits and pieces that were removed to make a good sound bite.

Seriously, every single one of Romney's supposed flip-flops are not actually flipped nor flopped. The studious person will find that Romney's positions are fairly nuanced and consistent. Romney doesn't speak in soundbites. He speaks in full discussions of explaining the problem, expounding on the various issues revolving the problem and the fixes, and then gives his own ideas for resolution. Within that type of discussion statement, any one sentence or phrase can be taken to misrepresent Mitt Romney.

The interesting thing that the entire cast of opinion show hosts (most of them, anyway) have fallen for McCain's oppo research and the Left's talking points, is very strange.

Lastly, I thought 2008 was the year that the Republicans self destructed by nominating a Democrat instead of Romney. I thought these past 4 years of Obama should have been enough for people to see that the new liberalism is actually socialism and a detriment to the country.

Bos,

I never said that Erickson isn't a blowhard. I remember him trashing & banning Palin & her supporters a few weeks back with his merry band of butt-kissers. I will never forget being mocked by those a-holes at Red State.

I don't like Erickson one bit but I am tired of "moderates" like Pablo who demand that Conservatives go along when their candidate is the nominee but when their candidate isn't chosen...tell the Conservatives to Go to Hell.

HA Ha
This guy Erickson is a real piece of work even if he is from my state. I read this opinion piece this morning and to say it is inaccurate and, even absurd, is to denigrate the word , absurd. Just one example. Erickson said McCain drove the GOP straight down the center in 2008 and lost the Conservatives and the election. What crap. I guess that's why McCain picked Palin instead of Romney or Pawlenty, Erick. Thats why he LOST, DOOFUS. For every red meat conservative like Erick, there are 3 independent middle of the road voters who got turned off by McCains VP choice.
I am not interested in repeating 1964. I am not interested in exchanging VICTORY in 2012 for politically correct purity. I'm not interested in another 4 years of Obama because " In My Heart I Know I'm Right."
Been there. Done that. Not again

I truly think that the right wing pundits and FOX NEWS want 4 more years of Obama and they are intentionally causing chaos within the Republican ranks to facilitate Obama's win. Just think how these right wing entities have profited from the anti-Obama rhetoric.

How could Erikson take a second look at Huntsman when Huntsman may have cut taxes in the dinky little state of Utah but he drastically increased spending. Huntsman supported instate tuition breaks for illegal aliens and he supported drivers licenses for illegal aliens.
Huntsman also signed off on cap and trade legislation for the western states.

Romney on the other hand vetoed illegal tuition breaks and Romney did not sign the cap and trade legislation that Republican governors like NY Patacki and Huntsman signed of on.

Perhaps the globalists want candidates like Perry and Huntsman because they are more than willing to sell out the country to Mexico.

Unlike Romney,Huntsman would not have experienced his success if it weren't for his father's billions and influence. Romney's wealth was self-made through his work ethic and business intelligence.

Even though I agree with Erickson in this case, I'd like to point out that I think he is an asshole. He attempted to pump up Perry by bashing Palin all summer. Now that Perry has proven to be a flop, he's bitching about being stuck with Romney. I told him Palin was the only one with the potential to beat Romney....not because Romney is so good, but because the others are so bad. He didn't listen. Maybe it will finally sink in as he watches Obama get sworn in for his second term.

So this is the the anti-Tea Party and the "Romney never flip-flops" site. Or is it a cover site for the Dems?

RightWingNut..yeah Erik is giving us his opinion all right and he is basing it on opposition research done by the McCain people.and did he like McCain? Of course not. In truth the folks at Red State are every bit as biased as the lefty media they keep railing about. You can not take anything they say at face value. And their number one concern is not beating Obama...it is whether or not they are relevant..it is all about them.

Romney has been a known quantity for some time now..they can play with his history all they want..but the truth is they are hypocrites themselves so they don't really need to be lecturing the rest of us. I am sick of listening to them.

Al.

I have read Romney's book and in truth he does not flip flop the way a lot of people say he does..but then again the same people obsessing about Romney's flip flops are more than willing to ignore someone else's. Believe it or not, it is not Romney's fault if Palin turned out to be all about Palin and it is not his fault if Cain is a womanizer and it is not his fault if the self styled purists out there can not come up with a viable alternative. If they want to yell at someone..they should yell at each other and leave the rest of us out of it.

Al,

"So this is the the anti-Tea Party and the "Romney never flip-flops" site. Or is it a cover site for the Dems?"

No, it's a site for those who know the difference between fantasy and reality.

Fantasy:

Rush/Erickson and there followers believe Romney would be no better than the community organizer.

Fact:

Anybody but Obama would make a better President than Obama.

As to flips/flops,

No one coming out of the woodwork with allegations against him.

Last time I checked, we weren't giving tuition brakes in MA to the kids of illegals. We just point them toward Texas.

He's still on his first wife, not third.

"First, Romney wins the nomination and general election and then proceeds to give talk radio the finger."

This is my favorite line from your article.

I think this is Mitt Romney's plan. That's why he's not gone on FOX news. Mitt's giving FOX news the finger.

Bos, you have a way with words. LOL

And what did McCain and his campaign have to say about Romney after he dropped out and worked his tail off trying to get McCain elected?

"We misjudged him badly".

I wonder what Erickson thinks about that?

I used to post on redstate from time to time. However, my posts were always pro-Romney and some folks over there didn't like that. I finally was warned to not spam posts (after posting my 2nd post in a week). I responded by mocking their policy of silencing anyone that favors Romney. Now I'm IP banned.

The hypocrisy of Redstate is staggering. They absolutely will not tolerate divergent opinion.
