Christie "Stunned" His Buddy Romney With Endorsement

When New Jersey Governor Chris Christie endorsed Mitt Romney in the 2012 GOP Nomination race, he apparently stunned the usually unflappable former Massachusetts Governor. After a lunch with Romney and his wife Anne, Romney mentioned he'd love to get Christie "on board," Christied surprised him by replying, "I'm in." According to Christie, Romney looked "stunned" and asked, "You're in?" To which Christie replied, “I’m in because I absolutely believe you are the best man to be president of the United States right now.”

Christie also called Romney prior to Wednesday nights GOP debate to offer advice and encouragement to his "buddy" and "pal."

The NJ Governor has become a hero to many accross the naton for fighting the Teachers Unions and Big Government spending issues he faced when taking office. His endorsement was one of the most coveted in the current election cycle and he awarded Romney with it. Romney was an early supporter of Christie's aspirations for the Governorship and that early support apparently was not forgotten.

As reported by ABC News, during several campaign appearances in New Hampshire, Christie told supporters at Romney campaign headquarters:

“Mitt is ready for the fight,” Christie told the volunteers in the same headquarters Romney used four years ago. “You should know I thought long and hard about what to do, and I knew that I wanted to be with Mitt Romney. The more I thought about it, the more I knew he was right person for the job and the only person who can beat this president.”
Christie promised to be back in the Granite State, but added he will be going to other early states for Romney as well.

“I’m going to Iowa for him. I’m going to Florida for him later this month. Iowa in December and I’ll be back in New Hampshire in December and January. He hasn’t asked yet, because he’s being polite,” Christie said. “I’ll be back.”

Chris Christie knows Romney personally, just as Tim Pawlenty does. It's a good sign when you have good people at your back. Go Mitt!
