Marco Rubio: "“I am not going to be the Vice Presidential nominee."

Senator Marco Rubio, R-FL., has been coy in the past about the prospect of being the Republican Party’s vice presidential nominee. But today he was far more definitive than he has been stating that he is not going to be the 2012 Republican Vice Presidential nominee.

When asked at the Washington Ideas Forum at the Newseum in Washington DC, Rubio repeated twice for emphasis, “I am not going to be the Vice Presidential nominee. I am not going to be the Vice Presidential nominee.”

Asked during the forum if he would turn down an offer if the Republican presidential nominee asks him to, Rubio responded, “Yea, I believe so,” adding again, “the answer is gonna be no.”

Rubio is a pretty young guy with relatively little experience. I really like him, but I'm not sure he feels he and his family are prepared for V.P. We'll see what happens, but we really do have plenty of older people who would do a great job as V.P. It's not a BAD thing to let some of our younger stars get some real experience before shoving them further into the limelight.

I could have easily supported a Romney/Rubio ticket, but the biggest strike against it, in my opinion, was not his youth, but rather only serving 2 years of his 6 year term as senator before leaving his position. That's not fair to his constituents who put him into office.

I really like Rubio. Every time I hear him articulate his positions, I am impressed. I hope that he has the opportunity to serve as POTUS at some time in the future.

Marco does seem kind of young, but there's a reason he is popular.

If asked, I think he should accept, but it is wise to keep his focus on his present job.

We do have other qualified VP candidates, and I'm sure the nominee, hopefully Mitt Romney, will make a wise decision, and no matter who he or she is, the VP will be light years ahead of Biden.
