Did Cain "Go After Romney" Last Night?

I was on the site "The Right Scoop" this morning, and I came across something interesting. LINK Apparently yesterday in an interview Cain said he was going after Romney at the debate.

“I’m going after Romney. I have a very penetrating question for him,” Herman Cain told Neal Boortz on his radio program today. Cain would not reveal the question, however.

Cain: Here’s the other thing Neal that’s a little different about the one tonight. First of all, we’re going to be sitting at a table. They’re not exactly doing the format you suggested, which is put us all at table and …

Boortz: Turn you loose.

Cain: And turn us loose. (Laughter) They got halfway to your idea, ok? But then, here’s what I think is really cool. Every candidate will get a chance to ask one other candidate a question.

Boortz: Ok where you going with that one?

Cain: I’m going after Romney.

Boortz: Oh, really?

Cain: Yup, I am going after Romney.

Boortz: Are you telling me, he won’t be your vice presidential candidate?

Cain: I didn’t say that. I am just saying, I have a very penetrating question for him. No, I’m not going after Perry, I don’t need to go after Perry. I will just sit back and let them continue to do what they’re doing.

Boortz: Yeah, don’t shoot the wounded.

Cain: Exactly.

Is it just me? I did not think Cain "went after" Romney at all. If anything Cain's question gave Romney the opportunity to share his (very impressive) 59 point plan to bring jobs back to the United States. In fact, in the session where the candidates asked each other questions, I thought Romney really shined.

Exactly, Noelle.

It happens every time Romney is challenged--he turns it into a perfect opportunity to shine. It's very difficult for all of them to challenge him, he is so utterly prepared.

he tried by saying why his plan isn't as simple as his own, which romney basically said that cain wanting things to be short and simple signalled he didnt understand the complication of the matter

After all cain was the guy who said before he would not sign anything more than 3 pages long.

And 9-9-9 will not stick, also i read on politico that cain's economist that he said he gets all his advice from is not an economist

Cain's question was a perfect set up to make Romney shine with his answer. I have to wonder if Cain purposely set up Romney for that reason. The other option is that Cain is just naive.

There is a TEA Party supporting radio talk show host here in my market that I listen to frequently. She says that she is a Cain supporter, but she doesn't like the 9-9-9 plan. I don't understand her reasoning because the Cain campaign IS the 9-9-9 plan. When it comes to personality and demeanor, I like Cain very much. When it comes to policy and the ability to govern, he is not ready, in my opinion.

Dan,

"The other option is that Cain is just naive."

I think you're being kind.

I'm sure (POSITIVE) Cain thought that he had a GOTCHA question.

He's not naive, just not ready for political prime time.

He's the man you go to for a pizza question. Romney is the man you go to if you want the country back on track.

Cain DID go after Romney when he asked him if he could actually name all 59 points.

It's just that Romney is an adept debater, and turned the question into a way to come off as prepared and studied.

Cain did his best, but it's just not enough.

If you look at Cain's face while Romney goes over his major points, it's priceless.

I don't think Cain thought Romney could turn the table on him.

I believe the others are learning real quick that Romney comes to these debates to play, but is willing to rumble if necessary.

"Cain did his best, but it's just not enough." Yet Mr. Romney could not name his 59 points. Capitalism does not need that many points, so let's just say he failed to win me over.

Romney gave a good answer to cain's question. There wouldnt have been enough time to rattle off 59 points, palin couldnt even rattle off a founding father or a newspaper name

It would have been a pleasure to watch Obama debate Romney in 2008...I hope I will get to see this match up in 2012.

OJ, you crack me up sometimes.

OJ, Romney would not have won you over even if he named the 59 points. Debates are not necessarily memory test. Romney put his 59 points for people to read and to know where he stand.

OJ,

Didn't you like Romney saying he'd use reconcilliation (only 51 Senatevotes) to repeal ObamaCare?

I think you'll be anti-omney long after his second term.

"Didn't you like Romney saying he'd use reconcilliation (only 51 Senatevotes) to repeal ObamaCare?" That is all fine and well, but he said he would replace ObamaCare. That kind of thinking got us in this mess in the first place. We need to repeal it period. Nevermind it, replacing it with any kind of crap.
