Rick Perry speaks to Jewish leaders in NYC (VIDEO 09-20-11)

The W Hotel in Union Square looked more like a Forest Hills J.C.C. when Rick Perry strode up to the podium to deliver a speech on the Holy Land this morning. There were nearly a hundred Jewish people in the room, and, aside from the press corps, yarmulkes almost outnumbered bare heads. Also in attendance was Bob Turner, the freshly minted New York congressman apparently determined to make Israel a signature issue after his upset election victory. He watched as Perry, a day after dining at a Mexican restaurant in Inwood, began courting another traditionally Democrat-friendly demographic.
The full story is HERE.

Just a thought: What I noticed in the video below, were a couple of things:

1. Perry would have been lost, if he hadn't READ from his prepared speech. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but I'd like a President who can give speeches on the fly and off the cuff. This READING and LOTS OF NOTES, seem to be part of Perry's M.O.

2. I thought his Q&A showed little depth in his understanding of the situation in Israel and seemed to be loaded with generalities and cliches. Judge for yourself:

We need to defeat this poser and put in a real conservative. He has more baggage than a train car and the global elites will use it to control him. Just like Clinton, Bush and Obama.

Who's promoting this guy?? Fox. Limbaugh. Beck. Levin. Ingraham. Some big evangelical/Christian groups.

Maybe if Rick spent a littel more on education in Texas, he'd pick up better grammar.

Thanks Bos.

I don't care for Governor Shifty/Shaky either. I hope he is asked to discuss his comments in depth at the Fox debate.

I really dont use expletive words but actually I am going to say this: Holy $#!T, Is this f^@#!ng guy that they want to become the president of this country? I cant believe americans are descending to that low-level. I would rather move to Canada or Europe than having this guy at the head of the country where I live! I have better understanding of the issues than this guy! I guess I can run for President! I am upset! And sorry, I am not going to use these words again... the only reason i used 'em was because I was so upset! And I am! (Dru)

I don't blame Perry for courting these conservative Dem voters. However, I think that they probably will find more in common with Mitt Romney than Perry. I suppose that remains to be seen.

Perry really is a lightweight. I almost fell asleep listening to this.

Maybe it's not his opinion afterall and it was spoon fed to him via notes and prespeach memorandums.
