Sarah Palin's Disappearing Act

There was an excellent article in the Washington post by Rachel Weiner of "The Fix", that pointed out Palin's history of inserting herself into issues and then going into hiding:
During Washington’s long-running debt debate, one name you didn’t hear very often was that of Sarah Palin.
But then, just as the debate lurched to a final close on the day the country threatened to default, the 2008 vice presidential candidate suddenly reemerged on the political scene.
She was on Fox News where she criticised Mitt Romney saying, "waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling” before coming out against the compromise.
The author noted:
Those kind of headline-grabbing comments raise questions about Palin’s future plans. But the former Alaska governor has a tendency to insert herself into debates with a splash and retreat just as quickly as she appeared, going dark for weeks at a time. Given recent history, it won’t be long before Palin disappears again.
She gave the following examples:
  • Palin is barely a presence in Iowa or any other primary state. She has shot down reports that the high-profile bus tour that took her to New Hampshire in June is over, but two months later it has yet to restart.
  • On June 28th, she went to Pella, Iowa, for the premiere of “The Undefeated,” a movie about her governorship, but said little. At no point did she get back into the political debate.
  • Until late last week, Palin was on the sidelines of the debt ceiling debate, aside from one Hannity appearance on July 13th in which she criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).\
  • Promoted her daughters book on twitter. posted a few vague comments on Facebook.
  • Palin reemerged. On July 26th, she was on Greta van Susteren’s show. Two days later, she posted a Facebook comment that included a threat to House Republicans at the end: “P.S. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries.”
She closed her article with this:
“Doggone it, I want these candidates who are in there,” Palin said of Romney yesterday. “I want them to not be sitting back.” Her sporadic involvement in the political debate suggest that she won’t be one of those candidates. If she does, it would still shake up the race in a major way — but she would be forced to follow her own advice.

You guys are Idiots. Sarah was right there the whole time. She isn't hard to track down. Get some better writers that are not so lazy. The TeaParty freshmen knew exactly her take on the situation. Romney didn't pipe in until the final hour and your not posting that are you? You are so totally biased against Palin you have lost all credibiltiy with Tea Party and Gop in general.

hey anonymous aug.5th 1:52 am...get a grip and and read more than the palin worshipers "bibles!" here is a link that shows that romney WASN'T SILENT on the debt ceiling issue!!

http://mittromneycentral.com/2011/08/04/debt-ceiling-dog-pile-on-romney-misguided/

all the facts right at your fingertips!!!!

. It is Palin that has lost credibility with most of the GOP and even TEA as well. Palin's time is just about done... she is basically irrelevant at this point. (Try to keep up in the future.)

Thanks for sharing this great article Bosman.

This strikes at the heart of Sarah Palin and why she's irrelevant with everyone but he hardcore supporters.

Romney picks and chooses his fights and the timing is everything.

Palin opens her mouth at the most inappropriate times and her unpopularity with Independents shows it.

Romney leads with his brain, Palin only with her mouth.

I was thinking the very same thing the other day.

Palin only does these things as attention getters and to remind he fans she's still around.

Now she'll disappear for awhile.

BTW, Sarah, That's why you can't and won't run. No one cares what you think. If anything, Romney's poll numbers will rise now because Palin reminded the general prblic how much they wouldn't want her as President.

All Talk, no action. Declare Sarah or shut up.

Which serious presidential candidate would use the phrase 'Doggone it'. And some right wingers still want this hillbilly to be president?

This article nailed the Palin persona.

"Until late last week, Palin was on the sidelines of the debt ceiling" Hahahahaha, now that is hilarious. She spoke at the most important time rather than wait until the deal was done.

Anonymous said...

She spoke at the time that was most important to her....when all the work had been done and she could insert her big mouth that's good for only one thing....spewing hate filled word salads. Sarah is about two things..Sarah and money.

Palin is an idiot. Period

I came here for a special reason, and it has to do with mormonism. They say that a candidates religion doesnt matter, well it should matter if you have any regard for the gospel of jesus christ.I come as a saved and humble servant of our Lord jesus christ to let any of you who may be affliated with the cult of mormonism and ask you to think about what you are doing. I dont care about romney's record, or his stance on issues, he may be a fine person and may very well be a good president, but he is a mormon. Why anyone would attache themselves to a religion that once or maybe still preach that men can have more than one wife, that blacks werent allowed in the priesthood, that we may become gods, etc. I invite many of you here that are mormons to reconsider the situation your in, come join the simple gospel of jesus christ for it is only he that can save us, not mormonism, not joseph smith.Mitt romney as president will lead away thousands of good people into mormonism as that is his ultimate goal, the mormons preach to do missionary work, or try and convert as many as possible to baptize into the mormon religion. Please follow your hearts, there are so many holes and questionable issues with the mormon church, it is best to leave and join the simple gospel of jesus christ. I have been impressed to present this message today and i urge you all to please pray and be saved at that last day. Also please forgive me if i have offended anyone. But this is my simple message today that i hope will touch your hearts and shed some light on the truth about moronism. God Bless!

Some may wonder who to support, you may support a good christian candidate with a bible based church, i hoped mike huckabee would have join the race because he is a strong servant of our lord, but you may vote for any other good christian candidate, such as pawlenty, santorum, bachmann, even rick perry when he gets in.Dont vote for mormon romney,or the adulturous gingrich. Palin maybe a good christian woman, but i feel she has family issues she should deal with before running for president. she should put the needs of her family first before her country. Otherwise shes a great christian lady.

Once again i have been pressed to comment because of the seriousness of this matter, and because mitt romney as a frontrunner is dangerous for the country spiritually. He maybe overthrown if the real christians will unite and defeat him and his dangerous religion. Thank you

Humble Servant,

Do you REALLY consider Mormonism a dangerous religion? I really don't like your religious bigotry. I am not Mormon but I consider them as Christian as any other Christian denomination. To base you dislike of Romney on his religion is, quite frankly, pathetic. I really don't find any of your words or actions very Christian at all.

On another topic,

I knew Bosman would have a punishment hit piece on Palin after RW's post from Wednesday. I just thought he would have posted it before know. You are so predictable Bos!!! :)

One more thing Humble Servant,

You act like you want to "help" Mormons but all you do is insult them while pretending to care. Calling them a "cult" and referring to Mormonism as "moronism". You are a pathetic human being.

Humble Servant,

You are a pathetic, biased human being. We are trying to elect a new Commander in Chief, not a Pastor in Chief! You should retreat back to your home and fortify it. If you and people like you are allowed to rule the day, Obama will be coming for people who own their own homes during his next term. Republicans will not defeat him because we will be trying to figure out whose doctrine is "pure."

Thank you, AJR for defending us against people like Humble Servant! I told you that we get our share of trolls. This is exactly the sort of person I was talking about, although some of them use even more vile language.

Humble Servant,
While you are back in school getting some facts , for a change, be sure and take a grammar course. Even if you are totally whacked out in your ideas, you will be laughed at sooner if your arguments are grammatically correct.
Also, please capitalize Jesus Christ

As an American, I feel called upon to reply to “Humble Servant’s” arrogant comment. The constitution expressly forbids there being a religious test for public office. Of course, “Humble” is not advocating a law, per se, but IS insisting that “Mormons” are not fit for office because of their beliefs. Let’s examine that. He precludes anyone whose religion has ever taught that a man can have more than one wife. Well, most Christians believe that Abraham and Jacob were righteous men who had multiple wives. So, no one who believes the Old Testament is allowed to run for president. Martin Luther once advocated that Philip of Hesse take Margaret von der Sale as a second wife. Woops, there go the Lutherans. He objects to the former “Mormon” policy of not admitting Blacks to the priesthood. Hmmm, were any Southern churches segregated? How about the ancient Jews only allowing Levites to be priests? That would of course preclude Blacks, along with everyone else. So, no Jews can be president. Now as to believing that men can become gods, Christ quoted Psalms “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” Can ANYONE run for president?

Incidentally, “Mormons” also believe that only through the mercy and justice and holiness of Christ they can be saved.

As for his use of the word "cult"--that is the verbal equivalent of growling.

Dear 'humble' I am proud to be one of those 20 million members worldwide, of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. Otherwise nicknamed 'Mormons'.

Now, go play elsewhere.

I find it interesting that Palin supporters will defend Mitt against these attacks, but most Rombots just sit back and watch Palin get called a whore, bitch, etc. That tells me all I need to know.

I won't be around much for a while. I'm extremely busy with work right now and expect to be for quite some time. My commentary will be limited to a few bombs here and there via my iPhone. Someone else will need to pick up the slack on the Palin front.

I get a little uncomfortable when Mormons try to justify plural marriage, to be honest. It's in the distant past, let's move on.

RW, I'm sorry about the trolls. I ignore them. Not saying anything doesn't mean I approve.

AJR, thanks.

@ RW...when you say we support Romney and allow Sarah to be called whore, bitch....you're comparing apples to oranges...or sane to insane. IMP, Sarah is a media whore and pretty bitchy.

Anonymous said...

Actually, to the previous anonymous, I DO OBJECT to your calling Sarah those disgusting names although I do not support her as a presidential candidate. That sort of talk is also the verbal equivalent of growling.

The most humblest of servants write their own ticket to hell, because any person that would refer to themselves as a humble servant and then spew the hate filled diatribe that vomitted from its fingers has no place in heaven. I am now dumber for having read it.

BTW, I agree with RW...but thanks AZ and Virginia

Please help me understand how i have spewed "hate", I have preached what any christian pastor would say about the mormon faith. In my opinion they are a cult, but for the sake of not offending anyone then i will say religion. The mormon religion is dangerous, not physically but mentally and spiritually, we have counseled many ex mormons and mormons who have been excomunicated from the mormon faith. The mormon agenda indeed is to convert as many as possible to their beliefs, I love each and every one of you as my brother and sister and that is why i urge you to come unto the christian christ and be saved. Nothing ive said here is vile or hateful but an invitation for all to come unto christ and be saved. i am not a perfect man but i try to be. i do aplogize for using the word cult, and the word moronism from earlier is obviously a typing error. Always in christ.

Sorry Humble servant. Don't buy it. You have counseled no one, and you most likely get paid spewing your hate.

I'm not buying you either, humble servant. You're a phony looking for trouble, and we can spot you a mile away.

I can't be bothered to even respond to your nonsense.

RW,

When I comment on a thread, I usually call people out for using vile language, no matter who it's about. I NEVER approve of the vile words that people use about SP, and I don't always approve of the vile language that SP uses to describe other people and situations. It frustrates me that you insinuate that I tolerate what vile things are said about SP, because I DO NOT!! If I didn't know better, I would think that you have a persecution complex.

Humble Servant, I have chosen to follow Christ by sharing my beliefs with others, not trying to criticize others' beliefs. Perhaps, as a "good Christian" you might want to try that approach; who knows, you might actually be a better Christian when you focus on your own sins before Christ, than trying to decide what my sins are? I seem to remember the Savior, Jesus Christ (remember him?), who taught about removing beams from our own eyes before trying to remove motes from others' eyes. That is written in Matthew 7:3-5, just in case you have been too busy studying anti-Mormon literature to have bothered reading the Bible lately!
