Rick Perry: Why I'm Running.....VIDEO of Announcement

At the bottom of this thread you will see a button to the Perry announcement video. The following Press release was from Rick Perry's Website:
What I learned in my 20’s traveling the globe as an Air Force pilot, our current president has yet to acknowledge in his 50’s – that we are the most exceptional nation on the face of the earth.
As Americans, we believe freedom is a gift from God, and government’s prime function is to defend it. We don’t see the role of government as a nanny state, and we recognize there is no government money that wasn’t once earned through the sweat and toil of private citizens.
That’s why we object to an Administration that sees its role as spending our children’s inheritance on failed economic theories that have given us record debt and left far too many unemployed, threatening not only our economy, but our security. Our reliance on foreign creditors and sources of energy not only compromises our national sovereignty, but jeopardizes our national future.
America’s place in the world is in peril, not only because of disastrous economic policies, but from the incoherent muddle known as our foreign policy. Our president has thumbed his nose at traditional allies such as Israel and Great Britain.
We will not sit back and accept our current misery…because a great country requires a better direction…because a renewed nation requires a new president. That’s why, with faith in God, the support of my family, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of America, I am a candidate for President of the United States.
And I will work every day to make Washington, D.C. as inconsequential in your lives as I can.
As governor of Texas I have led based on a few guiding principles. One, don’t spend all the money. Two, keep taxes low and under control. Three, keep regulations fair and predictable. And four, reform the legal system so frivolous lawsuits don’t paralyze employers that are trying to create jobs.
Over ten years, we have followed this recipe of fiscal restraint to produce the strongest economy in the nation. While millions of jobs have been lost over the last decade nationwide, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been added in Texas. Texas is home to one in 12 Americans, and yet since June of 2009, we have created more than four in ten American jobs.
The change we seek will never emanate out of Washington…it must come from the windswept prairies of Middle America…the farms and factories across this great land…the hearts and minds of God-fearing Americans who will not accept a future that is less than our past…who will not be consigned a fate of less freedom in exchange for more government.
It is up to us…to this present generation of Americans…to take a stand for freedom…to send a signal to Washington that we are taking the country back from the grips of central planners who would control our healthcare, spend our treasure and micro-manage our businesses.
My mission as your president will be to get America working again!
With God’s help, and your courage, we will take our country back. I hope you will take a moment to join the team and consider a donation to the campaign.
Thank you, and God bless America.
Rick Perry

Then why did you double the debt and the budget?

Mormon business men, east and west coasters, mountains west, need not apply. You aren't God-fearing people. You aren't one of us.

I'm already bored.

He won't live up to the hype. His appeal is completely manufactured by the conservative punditry. Give it a few weeks.

Boooooooooooooooooooh!

Right Wingnut said...

Didn't they turn on the AC in the room? Rick is sweating up a storm.

BOSMAN said...

Bush LITE!

Right Wingnut said...

Bos,

Palin or Perry with a gun to your head...

Who do you pick?

BOSMAN said...

What is that stopping and smirky look around the audience every so often?

He's really into himself.

A legend in his own mind.

The big brains gathered east of the Hudson and Potomac Rivers believe that Mitt Romney is the candidate to beat. But they are unable to hear what Rick Perry is saying. The Christian prayer rally in Houston was a very loud proclamation to fundamentalists and Teavangelicals, which said, "I am not a Mormon." The far right and Christian fundamentalists have an inordinate amount of influence in the GOP primary process and, regardless of messages of inclusion, very few of them will vote for a Mormon.

"We think a them Mormons as bein' in kind of a cult," one of the Houston rally attendees told me. "I couldn't vote for one a them when we got a real Christian like Governor Perry runnin'."

Perry, of course, can't come right out and print bumper stickers that say, "Rick Perry -- 2012 -- Not a Mormon." But he doesn't have to.

No gun to my head, that's easy, PALIN!

RW, I would pick Palin over Perry in a heart beat. And no need to put a gun to my head.

LOL Bos. Jinx

He sounds so much like Bush, my only worry is that the GW fans would rally round him for THAT REASON ONLY!

BOSMAN said...

He's an arrogant, BRAIN DEAD GW!

Perry is about as authentic as a $3 bill.

There was a time when I thought he'd be a viable candidate, but I just don't see it.

Huckabee foreshadowed perry's campaign this morning that reminding viewers that the high point of a presidential campaign is just before the announcement.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of disappointed conservatives out there.

Hey Bosman, you're from Masatoosits, so you're opinion doesn't count. Since I'm from Idaho, mine doesn't either.

"There was a time when I thought he'd be a viable candidate, but I just don't see it."

I gave him a fair shake when the talk started about his candidacy. It took me a day or so to dismiss that idea.

Right Wingnut said...

Bos, GW finished with a 27% approval rating. I'm not sure there are many hard core GW fans left.

BOSMAN said...

If he can get 15-20% of them, it's a nice start for a base.

Right Wingnut said...

Palin will wait a few weeks for the Perry hype to die down before getting in.

BOSMAN said...

Dan,

"Hey Bosman, you're from Masatoosits"

Nobody's perfect!

Bos, I've only visited Masatoosits, but in my limited experience, I would say that your state certainly has some charms.

Im going against the crowd here and say that perry WILL be a big deal, and will soon surpass romney as frontrunner. Perry now has a greater chance to win the gop nom vs romney. Dont get me wrong, i like romney and would prefer him over perry, but i see perry surging ahead of him. My opinion , we'll see........

However if palin gets in ( and i dont think she will) it would make it a very close and more interesting race, with romney inching ahead of the 2. my opinion, we'l see.......

when the meadia starts vetting perry....perry will not get the nomination...if perry hasn't lost an election yet..it's becasue of scandle i am sure of it...my family lives in texas...only 9% of texans would vote for him as president. maybe ron paul should run for governor of texas if he is so popular there!

Jay,

By the time The media goes through his BAGGAGE, Newt Gingrich will look like he's led a sheltered life.

As I said on R42012, Perry has some major questions to answer as he rides out of the west to save us all.
1.. He has said Medicare and Social Security are unconstitutional. Does he still believe that or has he flip flopped ? If so, will he push the Supreme’s to take up the case ?
How about clarifying this in Florida ??

2. He has said Texas might consider seceding from the Union if conditions were ” right “. Does he think that is still the case? He’s announcing in Charleston, S. Carolina. They thought the same way 150 years ago.

3. He believes the State of New York can O.K. Gay Rights if they want to, but Massachusetts cannot mandate health care insurance.

4. He believes the Government cannot mandate health care insurance…..but the State of Texas can mandate inoculations for teen age girls. Still O.K with that Rick ?

5. Rick has a closet full of special financial deals for his major supporters. It will be fascinating to watch these trickle out over the next 6 months. Some, if you read the Texas papers , are borderline illegal. We’ll see.

Intrade

Perry 32.5
Romney 30.00

Typical unflattering picture coming from Bosman on any candidate who is competition for Romney.

Here is what I wrote over at race in regards to Perry's announcement.

I think it will come down to Romney vs Perry. Neither would be my choice. Both come across as used car salesmen but with one being from the Northeast and one from the Southwest-same type of sales pitch, different dialects.

I will be watching both of them throughout this primary process before I decide who I will end up voting for. Unlike Kavon who already wrote out an endorsement of Romney stating that “Romney learned a crucial lesson from the the scorched-earth, negative campaign tactics that were employed against his fellow Republican candidates in the 2008 cycle.”

I am going to watch how they both handle the competition. It will say a lot about their character and will help me make my decision. So far, Romney has been able to stay above the fray because he really did not have any competition. But with Perry now in the race, Romney will have a fight on his hands.

How they both handle the next 7 months will determine my vote.

TC,

Typical claim TC. Actually, It's the color version of the lead photo on a PRO-PERRY site. You can view it HERE.

BTW, Isn't time for an anti-Romney post from the OPEN-MINDED ONE?

I'd also take Palin over Perry in a heartbeat. I think I'd even take Huck over Perry.

I've been to Boston several times on business--the historical areas are great. Also loved walking around the downtown area where all the financial companies are based, especially because I worked for one of the big ones for many years.

Good thing we don't have to choose between the mama grizzly and the prophet. But Perry does sort of make Huck look good.
