POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

It is time, I think, to focus on political philosophy as it pragmatically relates to winning the critical 20-12 election. Accordingly, here is my philosophy, developed over decades of working at various levels in the business of America and the subset business of Republican politics. Some of you will agree. many of you will disagree. But, we'll all do it with a smile.

Are the Democrats wrong 100 % of the time ? No !
Are they wrong 60 % of the time ? I believe they are, but
That makes them Right 40 % of the time.
To me they are right on things like
Infrastructure Investment
Reduced military global involvement
Investment in education
Investment in green technology

Are the Republicans right 100 % of the time ? No !
Are they right 60 % of the time ? I think they are, but
That makes them Wrong 40 % of the time
To me they are wrong on things like
Expanded global military presence
Arbitrary budget reductions
Ability to compromise
Laffer curve excesses ( trickle Down economics )

The ability to compromise is missing in both parties. The obvious trick from the above is to marry the 40 % of what's right for the Democrats to the 60 % of what's right for the GOP. Then, take what's left on both sides and put it in the dumpster. It's time to focus on what Unites, not what Divides !
This effort will embrace the 60 % that is the political center and discard the 20 % at the far left and far right into history's dustbin.
But.......where exactly is that center ? On a scale of 0 - 100, some believe the center is at 10 and some believe it is at 90. Romney believes, and I believe it is still at 50. He does the best job of straddling this broad center. He is not only the strongest candidate....he is the best candidate to lead the incredible effort needed to actually fix the problems. It is his ability, surprisingly, to get things done with a Democratic legislature in Massachusetts, that I think is his biggest strength. An effective President has to work with both parties. No one can rely on a Republican Senate and House in 2012 or 2014 for that matter.

Excellent Craig. I think you're right that there isn't going to be a Republican senate in 2012. Romney will have to work with both sides, as he did in Mass.

Interesting read, but I have to disagree on some things.
The 2011 conservative vs liberal fight is vastly different from the one fought in the 1950's.
I really wish that this were a case of picking and choosing invidual issues. And one side being right 60% of the time, and the other 40%. IMO its not that simple at all.
The liberal left is almost a cultist religion. And if you differ from the entire mindset of the left, you are villified with the leftwing verbal one word retorts that end all arguments in their small minds: comments like: "racist", "sexist", "bigot", ""homophobe" "islamophobe" and "intolerant".
These are the leftist buzz words that end all debates because these people are incapable of honest debate. Its why they demonize the right and anyone else who disagrees with them.
Oh, i wish this was all about being right 60% of the time but i have to differ. This is about an entire way of life. Since most leftists are not religious, leftisms takes the form of a religion. And anyone who is against this way of life is demonized and dismissed....

Reaganesque: But to deny that the Right doesn't have some of the same tendencies is wrong. We have our own buzzwords that the left see and become confused.

Still, compromise is an interesting point in the OT. Most of the time I hear compromise, it usually means the left is egging on the right to capitulate their position completely and agree with them. Both sides need to compromise.
