Palin blasts Romney for lack of leadership on debt ceiling debate

Sean Hannity interviewed Sarah Palin tonight about several topics, including the debt ceiling debate, Biden's derogatory comments toward the tea party, and 2012.

She also called out Mitt Romney for his lack of leadership during the debt ceiling debate. The following is a transcript of the exchange.
I have respect for Mitt Romney but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate. He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent and more money borrowed and then spent on bigger government. And then he came out and he made a statement that oh he didn’t like the deal after all. You know you can’t defer an issue and assume the problem is going to be then avoided.

If there was a like button, I would like this post.

Kudos to the Cuda for calling Romney out on his lack of courage and his political expediency.

For all the Rombots who thought that Palin would be jumping on the Romney bandwagon. Think again. She will be giving straight talk about Romney.

I dont see palin endorsing romney, but if she doesnt run, i think a bachmann endorsement is likely

"but its got to be all about job creation"

well i guess its doomsday for romney now that the queen has spoken. blah blah blah

And RW had butterflies and tingles up his spine when palin put that royal finger on her tongue and into the air.

i can see romney saying, "jump in the race bitch, and bring it on, please come debate me"

too bad she wont run.

Texas, I was never a Rombot who thought Palin would endorse Romney, and I don't think it would help him. In fact, in the general, I'm sure he would rather not be tied to her.

But I've noticed these days that your only comments at race are about Romney. He seems to be your main target. Why? Considering the options are limited, who will you support?

Anon, really? You can see Romney saying that? Cause that's about the last thing in the world Romney would ever say.

Honestly, I don't listen to Palin interviews anymore. I lasted as long as the Romney part, and then my eyes and ears needed a break.

Never a Romney fan, she finds solace in tweaking him, just enough to assuage her pain, but enough to be disloyal should he be the nominee.

A tough needle to thread and a tougher emotional place to be day in and day out.

Pick some one else and get over Huck.

Texas Conservative is a great commenter, and I wish she would come around more. It stinks that she doesn't have Huck to support in this race. I know how she feels. So far she has not given any indication of who she could support. I ask her all the time.

I cannot believe that Palin has not decided if she's getting in or not. I really don't know what's gonna happen when she disappoints all her fans by not running after all. There's been this 3 year buildup to this announcement, that the pressure to run is enormous, but she has to know that she'll be killing her brand by running and losing because of similar candidates to herself and other reasons...

One reason I have not been posting much of anything this summer, is I am very busy getting one kid off to college, one who just got her license, and one who's room we were painting tonight. So my energies are with my kids.

But to be honest, I still do not have a dog in the hunt. I have been listening and reading up in my spare time.

I will admit, that I was beginning to be resigned that it might be Romney. He isn't my first choice, but he is better than Obama. But, and it is a big but, I really feel that Romney lacks political courage.

I would have jumped on the Romney bandwagon and been singing his praises if he had put his career on hold and put the country first during the healthcare debates. Imagine where our country would be right now if Romney came out against Romneycare and told America why it was a bad idea to model Obamacare after his own plan. He could have put a stop to it, and the discussion would have been about what Romney did right in MA, and how we could improve on those ideas.

But Romney was MIA. Just like in the debt ceiling debate.

Am I disappointed Huckabee did not run? You Betcha.

But I am not bitter about it nor am I finding solace in tweaking Romney.

If Perry jumps into the race, you will see me point out his negative attributes as well.

I am planning on writing some issue related posts, but not until September.

Well, that was way too long. Just wanted to clear a few things up.

screech screech screech, yeah im sure romney lost sleep over this one. NOT!

wow, its august already and she hasnt decided if she wants to serve her country and run for president yet? Whats to lose? Get in already if your so confident you can win, stop stalling and yakking from the sidelines.Let me say it for all you queen loyalists, SORRY TO HURT YOUR FEELINGS BUT SHES NOT RUNNING!!!

Anonymous said...

only stubborn fools still suggest romney should have apologized for romneycare. They refuse to accept that the two plans are not similar, romney had a state right to fix a problem with his state and stop the freeloaders. Romney says it wouldnt have been honest for him to apologize for it when he didnt mean it.

And listen, if there was no romneycare, Obama and his people still would have created obamacare and shoved it down americans throats. If you believe the frequent obama administrations line that they "created obamacare after romneycare" your an idiot.

So brave of Palin to sit on the sidelines and criticize others on their lack of “leadership”. Mitt Romney is currently trying to compete in what will soon be one of the most challenging election cycles in recent memory. He’s trying to win an election, she’s trying to collect a paycheck.

mikez,

The Alaskan witch can pound sand for all I care! Who the hell does she think she is? I laughed when Sean asked her which of the candidates has been involved in the debt discussion and Palin said "well Bachmann has!". Thanks genious but she's a sitting Congresswoman! THAT'S HER FREAKIN' JOB!!! Romney stated his his position - Cut, Cap, and Balance. He wasn't required tovwrigh in during the nonstop Congressional chaos!

Anonymous said...

Palin is a liability that Romney will be better off without anyway.

And to correct her... Romney DID state his position... which was that he felt the issue would find room for movement.... for correction.

It's funny she calls him out on it now when HE has already stated that the deal they got was not a good one.... one that he wouldn't/couldn't support.

I watched Palin last night. I try and watch her as often as I can. The pretentiousness of her absent intellect adds a humorous side note to an evening Drambuie. But, she talks to merely occupy air space. She obviously listens often to herself and is mesmerized by her own vapid intellect. Her comment about Bachmann participating in the debt discussion and taking a position was a classic example. I remember even Bill O’Reilly being non -plussed, a couple of weeks ago, when Michelle said she would vote against the developing legislation, regardless of what was in it. Since Bachmann has missed most of the votes in Congress since she announced her presidential run, she has obviously not been helping Boehner and the GOP draft the legislation. Nor, as she said on television, would she. So………………what parallel universe is the Wizard of Wasilla in now? Does Palin truly believe, does anybody truly believe, that saying NO at the outset of congressional debate on any important issue, is leadership ? Does anybody think that position , announced on national TV, is helpful to GOP congressmen dealing with the reality of holding 1/3 of the cards in a debate ? Air mailing a post card with NO written on it, from Iowa, is not too helpful. Romney, at least, had the smarts to wait until the legislation was complete, before voicing an opinion. Always smarter to diagnose an illness after the lab tests are complete, rather than before you see the patient.

Amazing....twist, turn, shake it all about....nothing....I say...came out Palin's mouth of substance..as far as Mitt was concerned...He signed the pledge....did Bachmann?? It is her job to state where she stands...She is a congress women...Mitt jumping in??...enough distraction...more political grand standing...and he commented on the decision..Did not muddy up the waters..Would anyone have listened? I say damned if he did...damned if he didn't...Romney is the adult...Haste makes waste...this hung in the balance way too long...Insight...years before...ya think???......need business heads in DC...

Another example Palin is running that the beard scratchers over at Race will ignore. I wish she didn't have to applaud Bachmann but it makes sense since Bachmann has been entertaining some of Palin's guests for the past month or two. Palin knows that Bachmann is no competition but Romney is. She delivered a thoughtful blow that will be heard and discussed all over the blogosphere in the coming days.

Dan, will you care what she says if/when she announces? There would be no reason for her to come out against Romney so hard if she wasn't going to run. She has never really sad anything negative about him in the past...even during the health care debate.

I will admit that being a Palin supporter has been a roller coaster ride...especially the past few months. I have gone from believing she will run, to not being she will, then knowing she will, then thinking she won't, to believing she might and now to believing she will.

I know people think that Palin running and losing would hurt her brand but not running would hurt it much more. She has a faithful following that would be very upset if she didn't run. Her career could absorb a loss but it cannot absorb the obscurity of irrelevance...which is where she will be if she doesn't run. She has flirted too much with it not to at this point.

Also to combat the new meme that Palin is getting ready to endorse Perry...that is just ridiculous, Palin is too powerful amongst the grassroots to endorse someone so early in the game if she wasn't going to run. Also Perry keeps pushing his announcement timing back so I'm not even sure he will end up running.

Jersey, I still stand by my statement that I will give Palin a fair shake if she enters the race. But we are into August and still no entry by Palin. To be fair I really don't care much about what Huck has to say at this point either, except when his criticism undermines Perry with Socons. I wouldn't give a crap what Romney had to say if he weren't running.

Anonymous said...

Jersey, I feel for you if Palin is truly out. I hope she runs--if only so her supporters can get the satisfaction of seeing what will happen.

I do think she has to take these potshots to try to remain relevant. The train seems to be leaving the station without her.

I also wouldn't rule out her endorsement of Perry. 50-50 if you ask me.

-Martha

Anonymous said...

Martha, thanks but no need to feel for me. Politics is a pastime for me...nothing more. I support Palin but if she doesn't run...oh well.

I guess you can argue that the train is leaving the station but that train is taking a long time to load.

This entire primary season feels incomplete...

If Palin doesn't run and Perry does...I am not saying Palin won't endorse him...she is just not going to endorse him before January. Her endorsement would mean too much.

jerseyrepublican

Anonymous said...

Dan, Palin has been pretty consistent about when she said she would announce. Earlier in the primary season, she said she has not made a decision. A month ago she said, August or September. She obviously has already decided and this statement to Hannity, I think, is further proof that she will run. There would be no reason to attack Romney if she wasn't.

@TC: At the risk of derailing this thread, "Imagine where we would be if Romney denounced RomneyCare."

Yes, let us imagine: Every single republican would be calling him a flip-flopper. Every one. And they would be correct. I believe it is disingenuous to claim RomneyCare was wrong for Mass. I believe it is very correct to say it is wrong for the nation. I won't rehash, in detail, the reasons why RomneyCare is not so bad, because you are smart, have been around for a long time, and, I suppose, have researched this for yourself. Here's a short list:
* If Romney hadn't gotten ahead of the debate, the liberal state reps would have dictated the talking points, raised taxes, and drained coffers at the same time for a health plan that Romney would have had to veto and would have been overruled.
* He enacted RomneyCare without raising taxes and creating a plan that off-loaded the free-loaders
* Parts of the so-called RomneyCare were vetoed by Romney, but he was overruled by the state reps.
* There may be parts of ObamaCare that are similar to RomneyCare, but there are ~2630 other pages to ObamaCare.

The mere screeching sound of this woman’s voice will prevent her being elected, regardless of the content – her voice does not have presidential gravitas – and the media will tear her apart for this

Palin coming out and criticizing is just getting plain old. AND it is always in her own little protected zone. She also now comes across angry – I truly believe she is still mad that she and mccain lost in 2008 and now Undefeated appears to be a big flop, Like Obama, her little enemy list appears to be growing. HAD a great deal of respect for her in the beginning – and now NONE!
