Apparently, she likes Perry.

Are you working for the DNC now?

I mean at least when I'm critical of Palin, I don't cut and paste Left Wing propaganda.

I watched this yesterday and laughed.

BTW - in 2008 Chris was most impressed with Romnewy and his Faith in America speech. This cycle he is bending over backwards to berate, besmirch and belittle him.

Wonder why?

Right Wingnut said...

I don't think that woman is a left winger.

Its been over for romney since he got in...we shall see

Right Wingnut said...

I take that back. Her first job in politics was as Press Secretary for a Republican Senator, but I don't know her political leanings now.

Right Wingnut said...

Doug,

HA HA HA!

You use left wing talking points against Palin all the time. More often than not, JR shows up set you straight.

OH well then he should just give up the largest political organization of any republican candidate, great polling numbers, and amazing fund raising abilities and just let Perry win! I mean are who we to argue with the sage like wisdom of Chris Mathews and his panel?

Doug NYC GOP said...

RWN,

JR only THINKS he sets me straight.

Seriously, I typically write my posts from my own reactions to things and try to include back up material from as moderate a source as possible. Yo never see me using stuff from HuffPo for example.

But considering how all you Palin folk consider all the media left wing, I can understand your thinking I use the Left's talking points.

I think Matthews had this woman on a few weeks ago, when Bachmann was surging and she pretty much said the same thing. I may be wrong though, as I heard it on the radio and didn't see her face.

BTW, all this Romney is doomed talked, is just setting the stage for the inevitable "Comeback" scenario which lifts the eventual nominee.

Doug,

It's good to see you're still in good spirits. The same can't be said for many in your camp.

Doug NYC GOP said...

Why shouldn't I be in good spirits?

Did I miss something?

Right Wingnut said...

I guess you did. According to many astute political observers, Mitt is no longer the front-runner.

Right Wingnut said...

If this goes on for another week or two, Mitt will be forced to engage Perry. I hope he knocks him down a few pegs.

Doug NYC GOP said...

Are these the same observers who told us Mitch Daniels was in?

Or that Trump was in?

Or thatPawlenty would be a formidable top tier candidate.

I accept the anti-Romney prejudice and have already factored it in to my emotions regarding the race.

Doug NYC GOP said...

I think Mitt will engage Perry when Mitt is ready and really needs to.

If he avoids the trap of drawing first blood, Romney will not get tagged with the "going negative" label. Let Perry fall into that quagmire.

Besides there are three debates in September perry will have to navigate. Remember that Jon Stewart clip you provided a few weeks back? Not so quick on his feet, and that was a casual show. How will this guy play in the high stakes arena.

At least if Palin gets in, she's been to the "the show" before. Perry is blank slate right now and the Bernanke thing, while not major - will put him somewhat on the defensive.

So, lots of baseball to be played, everyone's always in arush to have these things decided "yesterday."

Apparently, this woman has never seen Romney.

I think Perry will begin to implode as those who can actually read and think for themselves, starts to learn about this dude. And Romney. Cool, calm and focused not on Perry and the far, far right who chooses to overlook this guys foibles because 'he's not mormon', but is focused like a lazer on the actual target. Obama.

Perry has a sad history of refusing to debate. It will be interesting to see if he says that he's needed on state business during each and every debate, so as to avoid them.

Welcome to the Race Mr. Perry. It will be fun to watch another perceived far righter be outed for the democrat he truly is.

Look at my other comments.
Perry- Bachmann ( Sounds like an Italian Shoe ) = George McGovern 1972

Fervent right, anti- everything meets anti- war fervent left. Polls show neither has / had much main stream political support.
McGovern loses every state but S. Dakota to Nixon. Supporters still happy. Party almost destroyed
Perry- Bachmann ? Big support from Donald Trump and Fox. Not so much from American voters

Craig,

I don't completely agree with your analogy. Perry is not from the "extreme right." He may speak the language, but his record says otherwise.

"You use left wing talking points against Palin all the time." At least he is not as bad as Martha.

Doug, I never once thought I set you straight. I don't really care enough to bother. I will call you out on your bullshit but setting you straight would require you to negate all preconceived notions and be open-minded. Something you have not shown the desire to entertain.

Now as to RW's point...listen to the news programs...they are already claiming that Perry is the front runner now. I disagree with that notion...it will take much more than a few days in the race and one poll to proclaim Perry the front runner but he is making enough traction to cause concern for the Romney campaign...so far Romney has been very smart dealing with the attention Perry is getting.

Time will tell if Romney decides to go back to his 2008 playbook or to let Perry fizzle out on his own. Perhaps he is hoping that Bachmann and Perry will battle it out...but it doesn't seem Perry will even engage Bachmann...which is smart. She's not the big fish in this campaign and to get in a tug of war with her is pointless and not worthy of his time.

And Good Morning to you too, Mr. Cranky Pants (JR)

Just for the record, RWN brought up the "Setting Straight" line and reacted to with a quip. (Notice I started the following passage with the word "Seriously" - which indicates what was before was not.

But good see see you up and around so early. Didi you water the lawn and chase the neighborhood kids off the grass?

Doug NYC GOP said...

The first line above should read "...I reacted..."

Now to your non-snark commentary.

I understand both you gentlemen's points. I did listen to most of the news programs Monday and Tuesday, saw the quickie poll by Rassmussen to back it all up, etc. etc. etc. I just am not going to get all panic stricken about it, is my point.

No doubt the media, both sides wants to see a slugfest of the GOP side, for different reasons. The Left to soften any Obama oppenent, the Right to ensure a "true Conservative" gets the nod. Look for them to take out Bachmann early to set the stage for a Perry-Romney showdown.

Being an instant frontrunner is a very burdonsome thing. Perry will have very little time to hone his message, make sure all his issues are nailed down right, the money is being raised in accordance to national requirements, etc.

Romney has a very strong core organization, money sources and the ability to stay in the game till the end. THAT has been his original strategy since he thought he was going to be battling Huck, Daniels, et al. Stay in the game for the long haul.

The band may have changed, but the song remains the same.

Mr. Cranky Pants, indeed! :) I'm sorry, JR, but that is funny, and it isn't vile language so I had to laugh. I hope you didn't chase the kids off the lawn or bark back at the dogs, or whatever it is you do when you get up on the wrong side of the bed in the morning! I hope you have a great day in spite of it all.

I still think the worst thing we can do at this time is nominate another Texas Governor for the Presidency. Time will tell whether Perry has the staying power of being frontrunner; right now he is enjoying a bounce. I'm not sure he can keep up.

Perry can match Mitt dollar for dollar. He has the Texas job story and he has a strong appeal to CONSERVATIVES. Perry is in the driver's seat.

Anonymous said...

Yeah he will be in the driver's seat when he runs out of gas

Perry will do himself in. Romney won't have to lift a finger.
