Usama Bin Laden is Dead!

Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11 attacks against the United States, is dead, and the U.S. is in possession of his body, a person familiar with the situation said late Sunday......
......It was unclear where how bin Laden was killed and how the U.S. captured his body. Officials have long believed bin Laden, the most wanted man in the world, was hiding a mountainous region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The full story is HERE.

This guarantees another 4 years for Obama.

I doubt it!

It makes you wonder though if his low poll numbers and upcoming re-election campaign, might have sped the search up a bit?

This is good news. Unfortunately, the cause is not dead.

What does this do to the upcoming election?

Will this keep Huckabee, Palin, Trump and others fron entering the contest figuring that Obama now will be hard to beat?

Anon...if this was October 2012 maybe...the bump for this will minor and short lived. US Military gets 85% of the credit, George W gets 10% and Obama gets 5%

This is Great news!
It should help those families of 9/11 victims to finally have some closure.

Trump will have a news conference tomorrow taking credit for this.

He'll say it was Pakistan's fear of him becoming President that put this together.

Thank You President Bush!!!

Bosman, I appreciate your demeanor and leadership at RS. Another site which shall remain nameless, has an administrator who has no respect for the people who post there. Tonight, he called one an idiot, and ridiculed him up one side and down the other.

It makes me appreciate you all the more, and the way you run this site. Thank you.

IMO, this will not affect Obama too much. It certainly will have no bearing on 2012. The search for Obama began with Bush and has been a priority for 10 years.

Obama did nothing. The troops did their job, and gave their lives. They are the ones who deserve the credit.

Yes, Obama did authorize the operation. I credit him for that.

I believe this can be called "justice." I couldn't help thinking of "W" when this was announced; I'm sure he has some strong feelings about this. I am skeptical that this will do very much for Obama either way in his re-election campaign. The military are the ones who do the work, and I am grateful for what they do! Good job, military!

Martha,

I saw the comments over at that site, commented on them, and came over here and saw yours. Agreed. It was entirely unprofessional.

hamaca, I'm glad you said something.

Oh well. I'm just glad Bosman provides this forum for us, and that he is the man he is.

Martha said it best about who should get credit.

Now what do we do?

Closer To Home said...

In 2012, we are likely to still have most of Al Qaeda largely intact, troops in Iraq and AfPak, high gas prices, unfunded PEU pension liabilities, out of control govt. spending including SS/MC/MA.

Obama may reap most of the credit for this, even though ALL of the working were put in place under Bush. Since BHO still doesn't know how to lead or get something done, the rest of our problems will still be there, and he will be campaigning.

Closer To Home said...

The report I read said that the initial clues came from interrogations at Gitmo, identifying 4 years ago a highly trusted courrier for OBL, one who seemed to be living with him regularly. Since then, the CIA had narrowed his area of travels and ultimately isolated the security compound in Abbottabad.

Closer To Home said...

And BHO's statement was the lamest thing I have ever seen. That speech writer should be fired immediately.

Martha, I can imagine what site you are referring to but I cannot seem to find the instance you are referring to...was the conversation deleted...or am I just thinking of the wrong site?

“/anyone know how? natural causes, did we do it?”

Looks like a bomb…almost sounds like it was a lucky shot. I would much have preferred capturing him alive though – nothing more satisfying than a trial for the bastard.

=====

I agree, however – this just wiped out our edge in 2012…I really would not be surprised to see Obama win re-election on this alone.

No statement ever so aptly illustrated the stupidity of youth than this one. I was wondering which idiot would be the first to say something like this. After all this time, I probably should have known.

First of all Kavon, I don’t appreciate the insult.

Secondly, you know how much America will celebrate this…how many times have we seen Presidential approval incrase or decrase on the success of a foreign operation?

Yes, Bush I won in Iraq and still lost the election, but how anyone can write off the incredible boost this will give our President.

First of all Kavon, I don’t appreciate the insult.

Then you should stop incessantly writing foolish things on this site.

Obama will get a nice little boost from this, which will last a little longer than the “Giffords Speech” boost. As soon as there are a few more horrible economics stories, it head right back down into the crapper. This happened way too long before the election to have any significant effect.

Does anyone think that OBL is in the Top Ten things that any American is worried about right now?

Thanks zeke - not sure how I missed that...that's what I get for skimming posts/comments.
