There's a Mike Huckabee mystery that won't go away

There's a Mike Huckabee mystery that won't go away.

Send a public records request seeking documents from his 12-year stint as Arkansas governor, as Mother Jones did recently, and an eyebrow-raising reply will come back: The records are unavailable, and the computer hard drives that once contained them were erased and physically destroyed by the Huckabee administration as the governor prepared to leave office and launch a presidential bid......

......In February, Mother Jones wrote to the office of Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe seeking access to a variety of records concerning his predecessor's tenure, including Huckabee's travel records, calendars, call logs, and emails. Beebe's chief legal counsel, Tim Gauger, replied in a letter that "former Governor Huckabee did not leave behind any hard-copies of the types of documents you seek. Moreover, at that time, all of the computers used by former Governor Huckabee and his staff had already been removed from the office and, as we understand it, the hard-drives in those computers had already been 'cleaned' and physically destroyed."

He added, "In short, our office does not possess, does not have access to, and is not the custodian of any of the records you seek."
The full story is here.

And here is Mike Huckabee on the need for transparency in Government:

Doesnt surprise me. Huckabee is a fraud. He took money and gifts from those he appointed to office in Arkansas. He uses his charm and role as a former pastor and uses the name of God to deceive people into believing hes an honest mistake free God sent candidate for everyone to vote for when he's the complete opposite

My understanding is that Huckabee's predecessor did the exact same thing. Some sort of tradition in Arkansas?

John,

"My understanding is that Huckabee's predecessor did the exact same thing. Some sort of tradition in Arkansas?"

HaHaHaHa!

That excuse will go over well. "Don't blame me, Mikey did it as well".

Hey John,

When you find a video of one of his predecessors calling for transparency and honesty in government, you should post it.

Tucker resigned the governorship and was replaced by Mike Huckabee on July 16, 1996, after his conviction for fraud during the Whitewater affair, although the conviction was not directly related to the investigation of Bill and Hillary Clinton's real estate and related business dealings.

What's strange about this is that if Huckabee wasn't such a holier than thou hypocrite, most people wouldn't rejoice when he falls from grace.

Nixon just can't compare in sleeziness to Huckabee. But they are two peas in a pod, right down to their lists of persons they need to get even with.

Someone really needs to do a nice 1 minute ad juxtaposing the hypocrisy. Hell I would donate a hundred bucks just to make it happen.

Interesting that Huckabee's sermons were evidently also destroyed. I remember that issue briefly in 2008 and the answer that none existed anymore

So, we've determined that Huckabee and Palin are frauds...and..neither one will run for president. Even they know they're frauds who could never win the GOP nomination, much less beat Obama.

I remember hearing about this before, but I had forgotten it. This is not something that will go over with the general electorate; particularly the part where Huckabee talks about more transparency in government.
