PPP Polling: 31% of Iowa's Republicans are traitors to their party

If Trump were to lose the GOP nomination and launch an independent bid, he would eat severely into Romney’s support and essentially none into Obama’s. Obama would lead a three-way race with 43% over Romney’s 27% and Trump’s 21%. Trump brings Romney down from 81% to only 56% of the GOP and from 37% of independents to only 22%.
Head-to-Head: (Obama/Candidate/Undecided)

Mitt Romney 45/41/14 (-4)
Donald Trump 51/35/14 (-16)

General election with Trump as Independent:

(D) Barack Obama 43%
(R) Mitt Romney 27%
(I) Donald Trump 21%

According to PPP, this shows that 31% of the Republicans Polled are TRAITORS TO THEIR PARTY and would rather see Obama elected than the Republican candidate. "My way, or the highway":

My questions. are these:
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY?
HAVE WE BEEN INFILTRATED BY DEMOCRATIC TROLLS?

I will support WHOEVER the Republican nominee is, WHY YOU ASK? Because that's the ONLY WAY to defeat Obama!
PPP surveyed 1,109 Iowa voters from April 15th to 17th. The survey’s margin of error is+/-2.9%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduceadditional error that is more difficult to quantify.

Mr. Trump would not be my first, second or third choice as leader of the Third Party, but the fact stands that Conservatives are Pissed that the GOP has betrayed them. I'll betray my party over my ideology any day of the week.

When war gets declared on the people, the people fight back. However, I'm afraid the GOP is too freaking thick to understand why the people are so hacked off.

OJ,

Then enjoy 4 more years of Obama!

So The Republican party should cave to the views of the minority in it's ranks?

Bosman,

You would think that after 2+ years of Obama that some Republicans would know better. If they vote for Trump...THEY ARE BASICALLY VOTING FOR OBAMA. The Romney, Palin, Huckabee and others candidates' supporters must unite behind the nominee after the primaries. If any sit out or vote 3rd party, Obama and the Democrats win. The we all lose.

If CHUMP was the "Republican" nominee, I'd vote for him!

Cont,

After all, Obama has bankrupted the country, Trump did the same, but only on a SMALLER SCALE.

HENCE, lesser of TWO EVILS!

OJ,

Voting 3rd Party is not the way. I know you are a strong Tea Party supporter (as am I) but voting for Trump or some other 3rd Party candidate is only going to hurt the Tea Party and the Republican Party. If you want make changes to the Republican Party (as I do) we need to do it in primaries. If we win these primaries, great but if we lose we need to support the winner. Even if we have to hold our nose while we do it (which I will with Huckabee) because as bad as some Republicans can be, on their worst day they are a million times better than Obama and the Democrats.

Bosman,

I would have to hold my nose and take a shower afterwards but I would even vote for Trump. He is the worst possible candidate but still better than Obama. I really hope that I never have to vote for Trump.

I'm not greedy!

I'll take a piece of pie rather than THROWING A TANTRUM and being SENT TO MY ROOM, because I wanted THE WHOLE THING!

OhioJOE said...

"Then enjoy 4 more years of Obama!" That logic is getting old. Why should we worry about 4 more years of Mr. Obama if the GOp cannot do a whole lot better. It is kinda of funny to here the Moderate Wing of the party use scare tactics like 'YOU ARE SPITTING THE VOTE' when that same wing of the party spends more time defending the Left than the Right. It is getting old fast.

If the GOP is serious about not wanting a Third Party, it would stop attacking the Right. The Moderates need to learn that they cannot get their way all the time and expect that the majority will follow along like Sheeple.

OhioJOE said...

"because I wanted THE WHOLE THING!" I am well aware that we cannot get the whole thing, but getting less than one per cent is just plain silly and crazy to be blunt.

I spent 6+ months BASHING McCain in the primaries. I supported him IN THE END, because HE was the Republican nominee. WITH HIM, I agreed 60% of the time. With Obama 0%.

AJR:

Yes voting 3rd party will hurt us in the short term and even the medium term, but there comes a time when a country faces a cross-road and is it need of a political shake up. I could be wrong, but I feel that time is coming soon. I do not rule anything out. I might hold my nose again and vote GOP, but to be blunt, I (like some others) are leaning against it as of right now. I will probably vote for my own GOP Congressman, but you can bet that I will hold his feet to the fire.

BOSMAN said...

OJ,

"but getting less than one per cent is just plain silly and crazy to be blunt."

hahahaha!

And pray tell, what is the less than 1% you'd get?

No, wait, What's the 99% you won't get?

BOSMAN said...

OJ,
"I might hold my nose again and vote GOP"

That might be wise considering the economy/jobs and 4 more years of Obama!

OhioJOE said...

Hey, I can do the math with the rest of them. We were promise 100 Billion in cuts and got less then 1 Billion. And lest you think I am just a numbers geek. Perhaps somebody can explain to me why the GOP did not really cut regulations and cut the budgets of agencies that spefically cause trouble (economic and other trouble.) The economy is not going to boom (like it did) if we do not get rid of environmental regulation as well as the free market distortions in important industries.

Right Wingnut said...

A Romney nomination likely makes a third party run by Chump more viable...and probably more likely.

OhioJOE said...

"That might be wise considering the economy/jobs and 4 more years of Obama!" It would be even wiser if the GOP comes up with an economic plan. Mr. Bush was not perfect, but along with appointing Conservative Judges, he kept the country safe and he created an economic climate that produced good jobs. The current GOP swells seem to forget those days.

You are right RW, they has kinda of poisoned the well. They have a big mess to clean up with the party in a civil war.

How has the GOP 'betrayed' them?

Makes no sense to me.

Well, on a side note, I must say that I admire Bosman for trying to keep the party together. The guys on vacation wants us driven out.

...that's why it would be wise for individual candidates to NOT engage in a war of words with Mr. Trump. Palin gets it.

I agree RW. Trump should just be ignored. He will fade away once people become more aware of Trump's ideas and position on issues. I think this whole Trump "candidacy" is either a publicity stunt or he's a Democrat plant.

OJ,

Tunnel vision = Ryan's proposal NOW

BIG PICTURE = winning in 2012 + Republican Senate + Ryan's Proposal when a Rep Pres will sign it.

Big Picture can't win with a close race IF 55+ year old voters are turned off by cutting SS and Medicare/Medicaid NOW.

Tunnel vision CAN'T WIN NOW PERIOD!

The Dems have ALREADY started with the ads playing to seniors.

OhioJOE said...

"Big Picture can't win with a close race IF 55+ year old voters are turned off by cutting SS and Medicare/Medicaid NOW." We heard that song and dance before, if we cannot win now, when can we win? Sorry to be blunt , but are the moderates in the party all of a sudden going to grow a pair and fight for fiscal sanity?

BOSMAN said...

HOW do you win NOW????????????????

With a DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED Senate and a DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT who WON'T sign a bill anyway.

KNOWING THIS, why take a chance to turn of the majority of voters now? ESPECIALLY Independents and elderly that we need to win in 2012?

Anonymous said...

OJ, you want to quit in the first inning because you didn't get what you wanted in the budget deal? Take your ball and go home? Ha ha!

I don't. I'm with Bosman. We need a president Romney to get real reform. I noticed that he did not completely sign on to Ryan's budget. I believe it is because he believes we CAN GO FURTHER than even Ryan's plan. But we have to win FIRST.

A Romney nomination means a likely third party run by Mr. Trump, huh? I don't know where in the world you get that kind of convoluted reasoning, RW.

Martha,

In all fairness, you have said repeatedly that you won't vote for Palin and Huckabee if either one of them is the nominee. So before you criticize OJ, you should look in the mirror.

"or he's a Democrat plant"

BINGO!

I truly, truly believe, that he is an Obama SHILL!
A third party run would PROVE IT!

Anonymous said...

Bosman,

If he truly thinks that Obama should not have a 2nd term, he would support the GOP nominee if he doesn't win the nomination. He is such an egotistical fraud. I won't be surprised if he is an Obama plant.

"OJ, you want to quit in the first inning" It is more like the 7th Inning stretch or as they say in Playoff Hockey, regulation time is up.

Mr. Trump is certainly no Conservative (although his spunk is admirable,) but it is a tad conspiratorial to assume he is a Dem stocking Horse.

Anonymous said...

AJR, good point. I have said that many times. But, I'm pretty safe. I don't think either will win the nomination, and I live in OR. My vote never counts.

Honestly, I could vote for most of them. Huck, Palin, and Trump are still an open question for me.

Ha ha. OJ, Trump's 'spunk' is 100% self-interest, and doesn't do anyone any good. It is anything but admirable.

Well Martha, at least he stands up to Mr. Obama, unlike most in the party.

Also, I'm not aware of any Trump supporters who want to see Trig's birth certificate.

RW and OJ,

You both have to understand that to achieve our goals, Obama has to LOSE.

If Obama WINS, America will go BANKRUPT FAST.

If Trump runs third party, Obama WINS. and AMERICA LOSES.

We need to nominate someone who can actually WIN among independents. THEN, our Congressmen don't HAVE TO fight against a DEMOCRAT SENATE AND OBAMA.

If out Republican Congress does nothing AFTER we have a Republican president, THEN IT IS TIME to boot them out. But you have to give them a snowball's chance in Hell to achieve our goals.

And that's ONLY GOING TO HAPPEN IF OBAMA LOSES.

Romney 2012. Fire Obama. Fix the debt.

Or else!

No thanks, Sam.
