Mike Huckabee responds to Glenn Beck's Foolishness

I used to like watching Glenn Beck on Foxnews until he went off the rail. Beck used to give concrete examples of the failures of President Obama's policies and Reid/Pelosi's overreach. But Glenn Beck has once again taken his obsession with Progressives to the extreme and used his radio show to denounce Mike Huckabee. Today, Mike Huckabee responded with his usual clarity and wit.

Response To Glenn Beck
by Mike Huckabee on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 8:36am

"This week Glenn Beck has taken to his radio show to attack me as a Progressive, which he has said is the same as a “cancer” and a “Nazi.” What did I do that apparently caused him to link me to a fatal disease and a form of government that murdered millions of innocent Jews? I had the audacity—not of hope—but the audacity to give respect to the efforts of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign to address childhood obesity. I’m no fan of her husband’s policies for sure, but I have appreciated her efforts that Beck misrepresented—either out of ignorance or out of a deliberate attempt to distort them to create yet another “boogey man” hiding in the closet that he and only he can see. The First Lady’s approach is about personal responsibility—not the government literally taking candy from a baby’s mouth. He seems to fancy himself a prophet of sorts for his linking so many people and events together to describe a massive global conspiracy for pretty much everything. Sadly, he seems equally inept at recognizing the obvious fact that children are increasingly obese and that we now see clinical evidence of diseases in children that as recent as 20 years ago were found only in adults, such as Type 2 diabetes. The costs to our nation are staggering in increase health care expenses, but it even effects national security with now 75% of young men between the ages of 17 and 24 are unfit for military service primarily due to obesity! His ridiculous claim that John McCain and I collaborated and conspired in the 2008 campaign is especially laughable. Is he not aware that McCain and I were competitors---not cohorts? Beck needs to stick to conspiracies that can’t be so easily de-bunked by facts. Why Beck has decided to aim his overloaded guns on me is beyond me. But he ought to clean his gun and point it more carefully lest it blow up in his face like it did this time."

Perhaps Glenn Beck should take aim at the real liberals in our country who continue to spend, rack up debt, and squander our countries future instead of attacking Mike Huckabee. Lest Beck forget, Mike Huckabee was re-elected twice in a Democrat state and only left due to term limits with an approval rating in the 60's. He was a successful governor who was rated one of America's 5 Best Governors.

When I saw the title I new that Tex posted this.

Huck is so pathetically personal. Why can't he just ignore Glenn Beck? Romney wouldn't have responded, let alone in a lengthy message attacking Glenn back.

This is just another indication that Huck cannot control his emotions. It's one thing to clear the record, but to seek to deface the other guy in return is unbecoming of someone mature enough to lead a country and to be a great leader.

Huckabee's penchant for taking everything personally, and his pettiness is one of many reasons why I don't like him. Please, please, please don't make me have to vote for him in the general election.

Beck has said this and a few other negative things about Huckabee in the past. I am glad that Huckabee used his own platform to set the record straight.

The motto "Don't Mess with Texas" can now be re-written as "Don't Mess with Mike"

I'm not a fan of either of these men, but let me say this about Huckabee. He is, without a doubt, a RINO. He immediately jumped to John Boehner's defense over the ridiculously small CR "cut" last week. He was, in fact, a tax raising, furloughing, amnesty supporting governor. Huckabee did, in fact, help John McCain get nominated in 2008. And there is a ton more. He is a RINO, an establishment Republican, period. He is not capable of taking on the forces of the Left that are now at work in this society. He, in fact, likes the Nanny State, which is why he saw nothing wrong with Michelle Obama trying to impose food standards on the rest of us (local schools, bake sales, whatever).

And Beck did not call him a Nazi or anything of the sort. This is a pathetic response to Beck. He called Huckabee a progressive.

WHAT....the heck are you smoking TEX!? Huckabee didn't set ANY record strait. He got personal, as usual. Explain to me where he set the record strait. He only attacked back by accusing Beck of being a "Conspiracy Theorist" stating:

"He seems to fancy himself a prophet of sorts for his linking so many people and events together to describe a massive global conspiracy for pretty much everything."

That was the DEEPLY personally petty attack, without any claims to back up his claims that Beck has no facts for his "conspiracy theories"? Beck ALWAYS sites his resources. Yes, he has his own opinion, but he backs things up with facts.

"Sadly, he seems equally inept at recognizing the obvious"....was a VERY petty statement, one which would lead me to believe he doesn't care about running for President, because one of the last media people in this country he needs mad at him is Glenn Beck and his listeners.

Tex, "I implore you to see reality."

Everyone tells the truth once-n-awhile.

Beck, that is.

Didnt Huckabee once preach forgiveness to his congregation as a former pastor? Now he wants to get petty and get even with Beck. And all a sudden bring up the 2008 campaign? Huckabee did help Mccain fight off Romney because he just couldnt get over his jealousy for Romney. And Huckabee couldnt allow a mormon for president, and I believe his real reason for getting at beck is because he's a mormon too. Notice he accuses Beck of thinking he's a "prophet", I take that as a shot against beck's religion because mormons believe in living prophets today. Huckabee is a joke.

It is not petty, personal, unforgiving or anything else to try to prevent a slanderous statement from standing. When lies are told about ourselves or our families, do we not try to correct them? Huckabee here is not the one who attacked; he is the one to respond with truth to a serious piece of libel by Beck. For Huckabee not to respond, in this world of rapid media misinformation, would give the impression he is either spineless or he agrees with Beck. Anyone who has read Huckabee's books, especially the latest, A Simple Government, knows how ridiculous it is to call him a "progressive." He is the greatest fiscal and social conservative on the political landscape now. Very like Reagan, without the amnesty.

Most people who actually know Huckabee are struck with his kindness, good humor, integrity, and intelligence. He does not attack fellow conservatives on his show or call them names. He is a gracious host, and interviews people of all different backgrounds. But it is interesting how he shows that he cares about people, and most of them love him, even those who do not agree politically. This is a very unusual talent. And in interviewing the first lady, he was no more a liberal than O'Reilly was in interviewing Pres. Obama.

Thanks, Texas Conservative, for setting the record straight.

I enjoy listening to the banter back and forth it helps me make my mind up when it comes time to vote. How do people deal with criticim? How do they respond?

Grace S, your one of those that believe huckabee was a pastor, he can do no wrong, the truth is huckabee is a petty slimeball. Why is he so jealous of Romney? And if you actually listened to what beck said, he never compared Huckabee to a nazi, Huckabee just took it way over the line,Huckabee was a tax raising liberal in arkansas and soft on crime, and Im glad Beck came back to put him in his place.

Huckabee is a petty, petty, petty and vindictive man. He is not of presidential material because once you become a president of the United States of America, you cannot afford to be petty by nit-picking over non-relevant issues. Huck, go away!

Spenza said...

Isn't very telling that so many people see and know that Huckabee is "petty" and "vindictive"? People don't see him that way for no reason. Only his supporters have blinded themselves to that obvious fact.

Why Beck attacked Huckabee: The story behind the story

Glenn, aka, “I voted for progressive John McCain” Beck, is dishonestly and deceitfully duping people. Don’t forget, Glenn Beck is a Mormon. Mike Huckabee is a Christian. There’s that dynamic playing out here. Glenn Beck promotes himself as Christian to appeal to evangelicals and ever since the 2008 Republican primaries when a religious reporter brought up the topic of Mormonism with Huckabee and he asked one question that “thin-skinned” Beck didn’t aprrove of, Beck has smiled contemptuously at Huckabee for exposing the dirty little secret that he would like to brush under the rug and hope no one notices.

Typical. Beck decides to trash the conservative leading in the polls because its not his anointed one - no one eats their own as well as "conservative" media (esp bloggers) - and then cries that he is being attacked by a viciously thin-skinned Huckabee when the Governor defends his record.

Beck sneers at Huckabee's questioning why he was not contacted to discuss those issues before the salvo was launched & twists this very normal request of a media report to have the opportunity to provide one's side of the story into an absurd request for a private preview of the show in his effort to excuse his lack of interest in discerning the truth.

Naturally, the commenters here are all faulting Huckabee for defending himself. Just as they have always faulted him for defending himself. There can be no possible defense as you all already hated him long before Beck decided to try to knee cap him.

Breitbart is probably being thin-skinned, too. After all, Beck just uses people's work without crediting them on his show - what's so unreasonable about that? Why is everyone attacking him for being the poster boy of truth? /sarcasm

Fortunately, the majority of people recognize Beck for the bizarre character that he is & Huckabee for the very capable leader that he is... otherwise, we could look forward to another 4 years of Obama's leadership thanks to all these "honest" efforts to destroy our own before the Dems ever lay a glove on them...

We can't have a president in these dire times with the emotional immaturity and non-diplomacy of Mike Huckabee. Expositions like this simply reinforce the image of Huckabee as someone totally incapable of rescuing America from the financial and social brink.

We need a Washington or a Jefferson, not a Jimmy Carter.
