Huckabee meeting big donors in New York

It appears Huckabee really is gearing up for a run, judging from this post from GOP12.

Meeting with donors in NYC, that's exactly the kind of thing supporters of other candidates have said he must be doing to be a serious candidate.

Is it starting to sink in that Huckabee will probably run? A half-dozen meetings with donors and bundlers in NYC. That's serious stuff.

Any thoughts on this? I take it as a strong sign that Huckabee will run (though he won't announce for maybe another two months). Would love to hear what your take from it is.

I guess Huckabee is trying to raise money to pay Arkansas back for the computers of emails and memos he destroyed...

There would be only ONE POSSIBLE way Huckabee would run.

That is, Fox found some way of getting out of the contract they have with him.

How many buffet goers can he really find in NYC? And being fat does not qualify as a big donor. Now I could imagine him getting a decent beer stash if he went panhandling at buffets in Des Moines.

Haha, funny guys.

You seriously can't imagine him actually running, can you?

DanL,

Oh by the way, what do YOU weigh now? Still over 300 or have you lost a few recently? If so, good for you!

Anonymous, I am not likely to be one of Huck's BIG donors. And since I don't really care for chitlins and squirrel, I am unlikely to run into Huck at the same eatery.

John, I would actually prefer Huck to run.9 And Barbour, and Palin. The more the merrier.) And I agree that this is a sign that he is still thinking about it. I just don't think he's very serious, or he would have been doing a lot more things to prepare. It seems like he believes the early polls mean more than they do, and that he can step in and run a decent campaign. It takes more than that. I think his ego is running away with him a little.

What's a 'big' donor in hucks eyes? 25 bucks and a bucket of chicken?

Mitt's got the REALLY big bucks locked down. Huck is just making a quick show, now that Mitt's put a crimp in his non announcement. that way, he can keep his day job, and keep the cash flowing in.

Martha, I have to agree with you on the more the merrier. I think Huckabee knows that early polls doesn't mean much - remember he was at 1 % in the early polls?

Whether it is smart not to have done more work than he has is questionable. But this to me means he is probably running, after all. Will he win? that's the next question, but he seems to be running.

He should bring a donation can on his summer cruise. He could set it up next to the bacon tray in the buffet line. I'm sure that location would garner loads of traffic.

I think he's just throwing his supporters a bone--keeping them excited and engaged now that Mitt announced.

John, Huck is quick to tout the polls. He reminds people every chance he gets that he leads in a lot of them. I think they have led him to believe that he can step in without much effort, and still be a player.

I don't think he can. I think his poll numbers are basically a mirage that will quickly dissipate once he gets some true scrutiny.

If he REALLY wants to be POTUS, he would have been doing real preparation. His weekly show has helped in the polls, but he's done virtually nothing to show he's serious. Even the book was unserious.

I don't think people are going to gamble on a man who has so little respect or true understanding of what it takes to win against the Obama machine.

Palin says competition is good. The more the merrier. Better chance of getting the top quality person as president.

Ellie,

"Mitt's got the REALLY big bucks locked down"

Really? Then how did Michelle Bachmann out raise him in the first quarter?

MWS.
Mitt was not allowed to collect funds for president, until he did the exploratory committee. NOW he can legally raise funds.

She discovered a treasure of Spanish Galleons of the coast of Minnesota.

Huck has got to be thinking about running. The time could not be better for him. Obama could be defeated and he has a terrible field of Republican candidates to compete with.

Pablo said...

When I say terrible field, that is relative to previous years. I, of course, like Romney, but he is a weak frontrunner.

Poor Huckabee.

If he doesn't run, what is the draw to his show?
No draw, ratings cave. NO SHOW. NO PRESIDENT.

If he runs, HE LOSES. NO SHOW earlier. NO PRESIDENT.

Isn't life great!

I just don't think Huck WANTS to be president all that much. I think he likes the attention of running, though.
