Was Sarah Palin's relationship with the Alaskan Independence Party based on similar beliefs or convenience?

H/T Right Wingnut

The Alaskan Independence Party is a political party in the U.S. state of Alaska that advocates an in-state referendum which includes the option of Alaska becoming an independent country.

The following is a video that offers evidence of Sarah Palin's relationship with the AIP. I realize, and can accept that minds, tastes, and associations can change over time. However, I have one question for Palin supporters. Do you believe that Sarah Palin was sincere in her statement about the AIP when she says, "Your party plays an important roll in our state's politics. I share your Party's vision of upholding the constitution of our great state."

I look at this association and praise of AIP in 2 possible ways:
  1. She believes or believed at that time in the views, values, and goals of the AIP.
  2. She didn't believe in this group and was simply pandering to them because of their influence in getting her elected and/or re-elected as Governor.

pander...Dont waste any more time with palin bosman, shes not running and if she does, she wont win. The only one that wants her to win the gop nom is barack obama himself.

Remember when Palin wanted the campaign to lie about Todd's membership in the AIP?

Palin told people that Todd simply checked the wrong box---which was laughable, considering he remained a member of the party for 7 years.

One has to wonder when she say's from her deck (with the view of Russia) "I love this country". Is she talking about the USA or Alaska?

Right Wingnut said...

I'll bite. A combination of 1 and 2. She DID share the groups goal of upholding the Alaska constitution, and wanted their support in helping her to achieve that goal. She wasn't pandering for votes, because she had already been elected. To my knowledge, she has never advocated for secession.

By the way, with all of the federal overreach we've witnessed over the past several years, I don't blame some of these people for feeling like they do. Particularly in Alaska, where some 98% of the land is locked up by the federal government.

Palin would say and do anything to reach a particular goal.

She's not popular in her state with the normal folks. Just check current polls in her state.

But if you want to compare this to Mitt's advocating for killing of the unborn, that's your perogative.

1&2 are both correct.

She believes that Alaska has a right to be a separate sovereign nation like her husband. She was praising this group out of self promotion.

I say #1. She is plain and simply honest.

She has the most to gain because her negatives are all based on lies. Campaigning will bring these to light, and Obama will be unemployed in 2013. I guess he should be happy about the 99 weeks to collect. Though I expect president Palin may fix that too. Poor Barry.

"Her negatives are all based on lies"

Really, Bill? what about the non-stop unfiltered 'campaigning' she's been doing for the past 2 years? If it comes directly out of her mouth, it can't be a smear/lie/ect.

And what do you think about her lying about Todd?

RWN, If memory serves me correctly, Mitt has never had an abortion. I'm pretty sure his wife never has either. Nor his sons, or his son's wives. I somehow don't think Mr. Romney is an avocate for abortion. The facts just don't support your thesis.

Good for her; I almost ready to vote for OIP.

Well, that'll certainly require some explanation... only if Palin decides to run. This is the sort of thing that candidate Palin would have to answer but celebrity Palin won't. Not having to answer uncomfortable questions might be a major factor in her deciding not to run, if that's what she decides.

Although, saying she hung out with people who advocated session would probably be a plus in South Carolina (that's mostly a joke).

Jonathan:

You meant that is a joke, but I can remember listening to Rush Limbaugh (the one time I have listened to him in the past three years) and he had a caller on his program that thought that the United States was so bad under Barack Obama that he would have to move to either Arizona or Alaska. It was during the time when Arizona was battling immigrants.

There is a part of Sarah Palin's base that believes that the United States is turning into a socialist paradise and her support for the alaska independence party will certainly not hurt her with that group. There are many within the broader GOP base that are effectively anti-government.

She could be caught sleeping with Bill Clinton and have a copy of The Communist Mainfesto at their bedside and half her supporters would claim it was the most brilliant move of her career.

Marha - Your PDS is showing. There appears to be a consistent, common trait among people who don’t support Sarah Palin (but especially the ones that hate her): They do not know her.

Bill589 said...

Martha - I’m sure she lied about Todd as much as she lied about Trig.

You like Mitt.
You tolerate the others.
And you hate SP.
Why the hate?

Both Sarah and Mitt are Panderers.
The difference is, he's the INTELLIGENT ONE.

Bill, do you know that much about Palin?

It's not in dispute.

Palin has a habit of over-reacting and stretching the truth. Them's the facts.

Perhaps the most controversial part of the clip is what that guy is wearing.

Bosman, interesting post. I would have to say that I believe that Sarah Palin supports the groups support of the Alaskan Constitution. Since there is no form, that she filled out, that explicitly states that she agrees with the secession positions of the group...I think this is a non-story.

BTW, I left a response, to your comment, in Noelle's post. If you get the time...I would appreciate a response.

Bill589, it's clear that you're the one who really doesn't know who the quitter really is. It amazes me that she has managed to brainwash her very small, very sick cult into thinking she is anything more than a media whore money monger. You are a very sad person who needs to pull yourself away from Fox and learn to research and think for yourself. If you do that, you too will know that Sarah is nothing but a lying con artist.

Anonymous said...

You are wasting your time with Bill589. Some folks are just not interested in educating themselves or accepting the truth but are more than content to wallow in ignorance and adoration of this lying con artist. Why shatter their fantasy with hard cold facts?

BOSMAN said...

Jr,

I left you a response on Noelle's post.

What has happened to this site? It has been infested by Trig Truther Liberal Trolls who do nothing but insult and demean anyone who disagrees with them. I am tired of being talked down to by many of the people on this site and am sick of the back and forth gotcha bickering between the Romney and Palin supporters. I think it is time for me to say adios. Hope your site is successful Bosman but I feel that it will soon be nothing but a lunatic Palin hating site. That should make Martha and Ellie very happy.

It seems that many of the Palinbots confuse the truth about Palin hate. I do see many people at this group speaking about Palin, however they all speak the truth. On the other hand, I see the Palinbots reporting their sick fantasies and delusions about the lying quitter AKA Sarah Palin. Maybe you should just stay over at the C of P where the truth about Palin is not allowed.

Sarah Palin will say or do anything...if the price is right. She even went to India for the cash, just to end up making a huge fool of herself. The Indians are still snickering, as they should be.

Actually, AJR would be missed. It's whoever the Anonymous jerk is that wouldn't be missed.

"...sick fantasies and delusions about the lying quitter..."

That is hate, it's incivility, and it's a cowardly way of communicating.

AJR is one of the most level-headed, fun-loving, and reasonable Palin supporters out there.

It's a shame that an anonymous troll would drive him away. I hope he'll reconsider (and that the troll will reconsider being here).

BOSMAN said...

AJR,

I agree with hamaca,

I hope you reconsider as well.

As to anonymous comments, I take them for what they are.

Some people just don't have the aggies to back up their convictions with their name. Hence, file under static, web noise, or trash.

Right Wingnut said...

AJR, You are a valued member of the forums and would be missed. Don't let a bunch of thugs who don't even have the balls to show their names chase you away.

Right Wingnut said...

I'm actually thinking of changing my real name to Right Wingnut.

Wow. $1100! If they're legit, I'd say she got ripped off. Wouldn't you agree?

Beat it, loser.

Right Wingnut said...

Bos, with all due respect, at some point you need to defend your site.

hamaca said...

Anon sounds like just another 17-year old with a big mouth whose opinion is worthless at a site such as this.

Go back to whatever site it is that is full of the sewage you spew. That's where you belong.

Bosman, I read your reply to my comment on Noelle's post. I cannot say that I am totally pleased with your response but I do appreciate the fact that you did respond at all...something ROS failed to do when I repeatedly emailed the owner of that site.

I won't tell you what to do with your site...it's not my place...all I can do is voice my concerns, hope my opinion matters and then weigh the pros and cons of your response.

I understand that this site was always intended to be a pro-Romney, Republican site...I imagine an influx of liberals that hate Palin has little affect to the goals you set forth for your site...so I understand your position BUT, honestly, what will happen when/if Romney is the Republican nominee...what will happen when the influx of negative posts begin to have a negative tone against Romney...will you be so liberal with your "no ban zone" policy?

What will happen when those anti-Romney posts sound awfully familiar to Ellie or Martha?

Where will your policy be then?

AJR is 100% correct and I don't blame him, at all, for taking a hiatus from this site. I, too, wish he would reconsider because I enjoy reading his input...as a teenager, his interest in politics is what sparked mine.

As I said in my previous comment..I understand that the intention of this site is pro-Romney...I can deal with that imbalance...even though I also do not appreciate the way some Romney supporters talk down to Palin supporters but at least we're dealing with people that share the same end game...to regain the White House.

But as I said before this is getting out of hand. I understand your "no ban zone policy," as well but I would at least think that you would send a message that liberal trolls are not wanted here...instead of welcoming them with open arms. They received an open invitation from, someone who claims to be, one of your own...who deliberately used your amiable policy against you.

I am not one to frequent fan sites...I enjoy the debate of a general Republican site, which is why I comment here and at ROS/Race before here because I do enjoy the civility that a good debate deserves...I'm not always successful in that civility but I do try with every comment I post.

But now the scales are weighed too heavily against my endeavor and it has quickly become an unwelcomed, masochistic waste of my time.

I wonder how many "hits" this site will receive when all of the Palin supporters "resign" from Rightspeak. I'm sure when we're gone...the attacks will begin on Huckabee or Pawlenty or Daniels or some other threat to Romney...and eventually you will have your wish and this will be Romtopia.

Right Wingnut said...

JR, FYI, There were some filthy posts left on here yesterday about Palin. They are gone, so I assume Bosman deleted them.

Right Wingnut said...

I would like to think that most Romney supporters are similarly disgusted by some of the slime we've seen posted over the past few days. I would not be accepting of similar attacks on Romney or anyone else for that matter.

And, thanks, Hamaca, for speaking out.

Anonymous said...

RW, I did not know that...perhaps the owner of the site should write a post condemning that type of behavior on his site. I would like to think the same but I can honestly only point out one or two, of the regulars, that have displayed the negative sentiment towards the influx of liberal trolls.
