Palin's Egypt Position Revisited

Right Wingnut posted Palin's full interview today that includes a much longer section about Palin's views on Egypt. The other day I posted her comments but did not get the entire section. I think that a few things needs to be said about that.

1. I didn't post the longer section about Egypt because it had not been posted when I saw it at The Brody File. At the time, the only thing he had up was her comments about Obama's handling of the Egypt situation. While I did not agree with her on those comments, I do agree with her other comments on Egypt. Had that section been posted, I would have never posted my piece.

Palin is right to worry about the Muslim Brotherhood. The current administration worries about the Muslim Brotherhood. We need to be careful about how we conduct diplomacy in the coming year. And Palin is right that Mubarak "is gone." I am proud to know that she is not actively rooting for the continuation of an authoritarian leader like some other potential 2012's are. Palin deserves some credit here.

2. Jersey Republican also pointed out to me that the section I posted was a little different from the section that appeared on Brody's website. Brody apparently added some periods in place of commas later after I had copied and pasted his post into my blog. He cleaned it up a little. In fact, I think that he probably did a poor job of transcribing her comments in the first place. Does that make sense? Maybe not.

Anyway, the intention of my post was to figure out what Palin thinks about Egypt. And I mostly agree with her. I don't understand why she bashed Obama since she has adopted the same posture as him, but I like her comments on Egypt. And I hope that she leads on this issue. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Michael Savage have all lost their minds and have done everything but fly to Egypt to kiss Mubarak's butt. This is one instance in which I would like to see Palin turn into a Mama Grizzily and defend the Egyptian people.

Again, I apologize to Palin fans if I misrepresented Palin's views. However, I was only posting what Brody had up at the time.

Pablo,

The entire answer WAS on the site. I read it much earlier in the evening. It was posted in the comment sections at C4P with the link. As soon as I read your post, I knew right away that it was a partial quote. It was in two sections, like it is now. However, I will accept that you probably didn't see it. As for the transcript, you are correct. The original transcriber did a hatchet job, perhaps intentionally. Fortunately, they cleaned it up.

Pablo, thanks for the updated post. I figured there must have been some type of misunderstanding.

I do find it funny that all the Rombots attacked with all their snarky venom when Pablo posted his phony and false narrative (if he says it was a misunderstanding then I believe him too) but now they are strangely silent. If the tables were turned they would be crying like babies until the Palin supporters apologized.

Maybe they are just too busy fawning over how great Mitt's wife is and how she can poop out gold bars. Or maybe they are thinking how Mitt will be the greatest President in all history before he has done one thing. Or maybe they are too busy thinking how horrible a mother Palin is and obsessing over a person they despise more than Satan himself. That must be it.

Pablo, you infuriate me soo much sometimes. I stand up for you and then you go and post dribble over at Race. Hey, I understand you are entitled to your opinion...but I would have thought that you, of all people. would want an educated opinion. You have admitted to not even watching Palin's speeches or reading her posts, yet you are so hell bent on seeing her destruction. I guess I was wrong about you.

I am starting to think that Pablo intentionally put up false information. He waited up 12 hours after the truth was out to make a correction.

You guys need to take a break. My heavens, the contortions Palin instills!

Pablo is the fairest, most intellectually honest commenter I've seen at race/ROS/RS. There are a few others, but very few. He criticizes Romney when he sees fit. He has been more than fair to Palin. He's fair to everyone, and gives credit where credit is due.

You guys can't take one single negative thing about Palin or you go berserk. Nothing. She is perfect, apparently and cannot make a mistake. According to you, anyone who sees a less than perfect Palin is obviously lying and being duped by the evil press.

But newsflash, she does make mistakes and is a flawed candidate. Many people believe she would hurt the party if she's nominated. That's all. Just because someone has not fallen under her spell, does not mean they're evil despicable liars/RINOS.

Most are just level-header folks who want the best.

I will not apologize for anything I've said about Palin, because I have been very fair to her. I do think AJR's comment about Ann Romney's ability to ____ gold bars was crude and should not have been said. Perhaps AJR should apologize for that one.

I have said that Sarah Palin often uses crude imagery or words, and that is something that I don't admire about her. If that is the way "every man" communicates, I don't want it nor do I relate. Let's keep trying to keep the humor here on this site funny, but not crude, okay? If I want crude, I can certainly look just about everywhere else; a site discussing politics doesn't need it.

Jersey,

I don't like Palin. I don't want her to win the Republican nomination and I will be thankful when she is no longer looked up to in the conservative movement.

Having said that, I want to be fair to her, which is why I posted this piece. She deserves more credit than I gave her the other day.

How does this infuriate you? Would the only way I not infuriate you if I actually supported Palin? I don't. It is not secret.

I never put up false information in the first place. I copied and pasted a portion of the Brody interview directly to my blog and here. I was not aware of the Egypt part. And I was seeking more information about her position.

But regardless, I work more than 40 hours a week. I got home about 7 pm and I immediately responded to RW's post when I saw. In fact, I wrote this post before I even ate dinner.

Martha,

Thanks for your kind words. We all have biases. I recognize that I am greatly turned away from Palin's style of politics. It would be very easy for me to spend all day criticizing her, but that is not right. She does have good qualities and they need to be declared. For example, I agree with her comments about Egypt and I applaud her for it. I will try not to be overcome by my distaste for Palin, however, I will not cease from criticizing her when I see fit. She puts the proverbial pants on one leg at a time just like the rest.

Actually, I never asked the Romney supporters to apologize. All I said was that if the tables were turned and a Palin supporter only posted half of a Romney quote with punctuation errors that made Romney look stupid, the Romney supporters would be screaming like little babies.

As for pooping gold bricks, if you are offended AZ, then I am sorry. I actually thought that was kinda funny.

Martha, I read plently of Palin criticism daily from most posters on this site so I am quite used to it. I have anever said that Palin is perfect or that anyone who doesn't support her is some sort of evil RINO. She also isn't a lousy mother, evil incarnate and complete idiot as many of you believe.

As I have stated many times, I like Romney it is just many of his obnoxious supporters who get on my nerves. As Jersey said in the chat, I also grow tired of being talked down to because Romney is not my 1st choice for President.

One other thing, Pablo....I take back what I said at 11:39 AM. It was said at the heat of the moment when I was annoyed by other things.

AJR,

I thought the pooping gold bars comment was funny also. Lol.

I only half take back what I said to you Pablo, I understand if Palin is not your favorite...for that I don't care but, to me, it seems that you try very hard to not educate yourself on her. But I do acknowledge that you, obviously, have the right to your own opinion.

And if "poop out gold bars," is considered crude, on this site, then I'm sorry I laughed but I'm not sorry my brother posted it!!!

I still think the gold bars comment is crude. I was also offended because it was directed at Ann Romney; she has done nothing to earn your disdain. By all reports, she is a really good person, mother, and grandmother. She has to fight hard daily to keep her MS under control; and more recently, had a breast cancer scare. She simply doesn't deserve such thoughtless comments made about her. Now, if the comment had been made about Mitt, I would have tolerated it a little better, since he is the former/potential candidate.

I love the story Ann has tells about when she was diagnosed with MS and went into deep depression. Mitt said, "Well, we are together, and we'll do everything together." And that's how they have worked through it--together. That is something I think everyone can admire.

See, now I have said something NICE so you'll feel more guilty about your comment!

AZ,

I wasn't making fun of Ann Romney with the gold bars comment. I was poking fun at many of the Romney supporters who fawn all over everything that is Romney while insinuating that Palin supporters are stupid mindless hypnotized zombies.

I am sure that Ann Romney is a lovely woman, Mitt Romney is a good man and they have a beautiful family. I have never made personal attacks against Mitt Romney or his family, unlike some Romney supporters (on this site and others) who make plenty of personal attacks against Palin and her family (i.e. Palin is a lousy mother), which I am sure you are also against (even though I have yet to hear you say that).

As I said before that if you are offended with what I said then I apologize but I do not feel guilty about tweaking Romney supporters who talk down to Palin supporters on a daily basis. Let's be honest, if there was an article about Todd Palin there would be plently of snarky comments about how the Palin's stink, that Sarah is a bad mother and posters making fun of any Palin supporter who made any positive comments about the Palin family.

I'm still not sorry for finding it funny and anyone who thinks that a joke about pooping out gold bars is a sleight against Ann Romney is not paying attention.

Thank you, AJR. I think that you are a decent person. I agree that there are some Romney supporters who jump all over Palin and her family without just cause. I have tried to refrain from making personal attacks on her or her family. I have plenty of political reasons to not support her in the Republican Primary for president, I don't need to say anything about her family. I assume that her children have a hard enough life in the spotlight without everyone else jumping in and making it more difficult!

I will also stay out of the way of her husband, as well. If there is a legitimate story that comes up, I will discuss it; otherwise, I'll leave him alone. Thank you for respecting the Romney family in the same way.
