Is Huckabee Really This Petty?

I am sure everyone is aware of Mike Huckabee's new book which labels Romneycare "socialized medicine." I just spent the past 45 minutes searching the internet for one instance where Huckabee called Obamacare "socialized medicine." I could not find anything.

Now, I realize that Huck has made a lot of comments since his rise to fame, so I might have missed it. Perhaps you Huck fans out there can show me where he made such a comment. But it appears to me that Huck has gone out of his way to maintain civil discourse regarding Obama and the Democrats. I applaud him for that. The Affordable Care Act is not socialized medicine (please see Great Britain or Canada for socialized medicine).

I want to make something clear here. I do not care if there is a bitter spat between Huckabee and Romney. This is not a soap opera. I do not base my voting decisions on inter-personal feuds. I really don't care what Huck thinks about Romney. What matters are the policies that these guys propose.

However, Huck's comment today reveals one of two things. Either Huck really doesn't know anything about health care policy or he is so petty that he is willing to stretch the truth so he can give Romney a black eye. Actually, come to think of it, I believe it is both of those things.

Ironically, Huckabee has sounded like a socialist in the past when speaking about health care.

Again, I patiently wait for a past Huckabee quote about Obama's "socialized medicine."

Pablo,
Does anybody really believe healthcare will mean beans in 2012 ? Look at the headlines, for God's sake. The conomy is doing exactly what everybody thought it would....tanking. And $ 100 + oil is not helping. When stagflation takes hold and interest rates rise, the problems will becaome immense. Try paying the interest in the $ 14 T national debt if interest rates rise a percent or two. Try dealing with state debt if inflation takes off. Try selling your home if interest rates rise and home values collapse. Try doing anything about unemployment with that kind of a mess and gasoline at $ 4 or $5 / gallon.
Then......see who really acres about Romney's 6 year old health program in Massachusetts. What will be important is who understands economics and can get us out of this economic disaster.
That ain't Huck

Romney may have 1 elephant in the room. Huckabee on the other hand, has 1033!

Nice observations, Pablo, and Craig.

It's things like this that make me believe the Politico article the other day was not off the mark. Huckabee is obsessed with slamming Romney, and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight.

ONCE AGAIN HUCKABEE IS ONLY INTERESTED AT TAKING SHOTS AT ROMNEY. HE IS ROMNEY-ENVIOUS!

Huckabee better learn from the 2008 campaign. The reason why he became the GOP long shot darling was because he stayed relatively clear from the name calling and he actually tackled some very good issues. I think Romney hurt himself by fighting back too hard and nasty when Huckabee took a shot at him during the 2008 GOP primary season. I think Romney will not make that mistake again. It should be a great two way battle between the two. I expect a long shot darling candidate to emerge to challenge Romney and Huckabee for the nomination. I do not expect Palin to run for president in 2012.

Yes, he's THAT petty.

This doesn't even plumb the depths of Huck's pettiness. Huck could teach Nixon lessons in pettiness.

Huckabee is so lame. He is obsessed with Romney. What did Romney do to him? Steal his lunch.

Well, been putting out my thoughts lately that Huckabee is focused on 2016 and therefore he must kneecap any GOPer who can beat Obama in 2012. To win the nomination in 2016 his only hope is not to face incumbent GOP president in a primary.

Obama must be re-elected to satisfy Huckabee. This personal animous for Romney is Huckabee's hideous underbelly. I used to think it was his obsession with pardons and reckless disregard for public safety. No, it's his vindictive streak. Can a president get elected who is this petty and despicable as to prefer 4 more years of Obama rather than Romney, a competent candidate who can win?

Lori, nice. 'hideous underbelly'. I can't think of a more accurate way to describe it. LOL

For the record, Romney's 2008 negative ads against Huck were all policy based, and absolutely were not personal. The ads were more culturally offensive to people in the midwest than "nasty." Even Rush, who ended up rooting for Romney only because he disliked McCain more, commented that Romney's ads were policy-based.

Huck, on the other hand, approached his campaign in ways that didn't offend midwest sensibilities, but certainly offended many Mormons and westerners. It is why Huck remains the darling of the midwest and south, but doesn't have much foothold in really red states like Utah.

Huckabee probably isn't running, for now, for financial reasons, but he certainly doesn't want Mitt to win. If Mitt is leading the polls in Iowa by mid-Summer, look for Huckabee to enter the fray.

I doubt, however, that he's going to win Iowa again. The candidate mix will be different, his expectations in the state will be astronomically high, and the man can't raise money to save his life.

When the smoke clears, he will have lost a state he should have won and, for all intents and purposes, he'll be out of the race.

And it just couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

Romney and his advisers got a lot of their info from the Club for Growth - who was more than willing to help one of their board members and faithful donors settle a grudge against Huckabee. It looks like Romney and his followers are still willing to buy into the distortions of Huckabee's record.

Who is "petty"? Are Romney's supporters deliberately trying to make mountains out of molehills? The one sentence in Huckabee's book that uses the words "socialized medicine" describes both Romneycare and Obamacare.

Watchinitall:

Mike Huckabee is waging a one man blood feud against Romney. At some point you have to question his motives.

Meanwhile, this looks like a great place to do just that. Hi guys!
