Alan Simpson, who has been left out in the cold after leading Obama's debt commission, has absolutely nailed it. Unless one wishes to talk about the "Big Four," one is not really talking about cutting the deficit.

Absolutely correct. Defense, Medicaid, Medicare, and SS have to be addressed. I don't want to vote for any squeamish republican who is too afraid to address these necessary cuts.
