Huckabee talks with Jenna Lee in the Happening Now Hotseat

Mike Huckabee sits in the Happening Now Hotseat with Jenna Lee and discusses the following economic issues:

Congress and the Debt ceiling
* Congress needs to stop the spending before they raise the debt ceiling.

Where should the Republican suggest to make cuts and make cuts now?
*An across the board cut of 5 to 10% of everything, every agency has got to go find that.
* Need to take a longterm look at Medicaid/Medicare.
*Adjustments, make changes at the state level. States have proven their ability to save money, but they can't as long as their hands are tied by the federal government.

Obamacare
* Bureaucratic nightmare for small businesses.
* Repeal is better than tinkering with healthcare.
* Repeal will pass in the House but tougher battle in the Senate.

Budget Problems with the States: Would you give the states a bailout?
*A bailout for the states would be the biggest mistake of all because it perpetuates the problem. States are in trouble because there is a structural issue that needs to be addressed. States basically do 3 things: educate, medicate and incarcerate. In most states, that represents 90% of state budgets.

Which poses 3 questions?
* How do you control the cost of education without losing the quality?
* How do you reign in the cost of medicaid which is even a bigger cost that medicare?
* What can we do in our correction system so that we do not try to incarcerate ourselves out of the crime problem?

*The last thing the states need is a federal mandate telling them what they must do.

What is the first thing that you would do as President? What is the first topic that you would tackle?
*Tackle the economic structure of how we tax and how we do our spending.
*Discusses the pluses of the FAIRTAX-productivity kind of environment.

What about a decision on a Presidential run?
*It will come later than earlier.

Great stuff, TC. All these daily ABC and Fox News shows will pay off by getting Huck's unfiltered message clearly out to the public, imho.

(Btw, the second video only had the audio)

*Both videos are working now* : )

Another off the cuff, un prepared, surprise interview by Huckabee on Fox. Is this supposed to be Huck being spontaneous?

Yeh! Right!

I didn't see a teleprompter.

Yeh,

They lassoed him in the corridor at Fox, sat him down, and said, Let's talk politics.

Bosman, you sound upset that Huckabee was well versed on all those issues.

Don't forget, Huckabee has been on the Fox Business channel for over a year talking about the financial markets and economic news. He knows what he is talking about.

Plus, he was a governor for 10 1/2 years, so he knows how the economic issues affect the states' budgets.

You must be talking about how they will get Romney in a Fox News studio since he won't go willingly for months now.

TC and S&M,

You're missing my point, so let me SIMPLIFY it for you.

Everything Huckabee does on Fox is STAGED!

We keep hearing the name "Huckabee" and "Fox" together in 99.9% of everything Huckabee does.

Do you really think that Fox doesn't let him in on the topics or questions ahead of time when he appears on a show?

Good point. It is interesting how Mr. Romney has a lot less interest these days appearing on Conservative media

Bosman, At every single book signing that Huckabee does, he takes questions from the local media. He never turns them down.

Also, at the pro-life events, the NAMM event, each time he is in Israel, etc...

Huckabee is very good on his feet. He is not afraid to be asked a question.

One of the things I like best about Huckabee is that he answers the question he was given. All politicians have use a certain degree of deflection, but Huckabee the least. Look at the debates from 2008. The left tried to zing Huckabee by giving him religious questions. But as it turned out, his evolution answer and the answer to the woman submitting to her husband question, turned out fantastically in his favor.
