PPP Poll: Obama looks good in Minnesota, Romney top Republican

Barack Obama would win Minnesota pretty easily if he had to run for reelection today and in a bit of a surprise his stiffest competition would come not from the state's Governor Tim Pawlenty, but from Mitt Romney.......In the closest head to head match up for President Obama leads Romney 47-42. Doing next best is Pawlenty at a 51-43 disadvantage, followed by Huckabee at 50-40, Gingrich at 51-38, and Palin at 54-36.
Favorable/Unfavorable/not sure:

Newt Ginrich 30/52/19
Mike Huckabee 37/40/24
Sarah Palin 35/60/5
Mitt Romney 32/42/26

Head-to-Head with Obama:
(Obama/Candidate/undecided)

Newt Gingrich 51/38/11 (-13)
Mike Huckabee 50/40/10 (-10)
Sarah Palin 54/36/9 (-18)
Mitt Romney 47/42/10 (-5)
Tim Pawlenty 51/43/6 (-8)
PPP surveyed 949 Minnesota voters on December 4th and 5th. The survey’s margin of error is +/-3.2%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

It's getting clearer and clearer that Romney is the one who can beat Obama. He tops in Red States, he tops in Blue states.

Great point Phil.

The non-Rombots will find that as an unimportant reality.

It's more important to them to win the nomination and lose the general.

MN is out of reach for any Republican.

Not necessarily. Romney is even polling better than Pawlenty there. It will just take an amazing GOTV operation to try and counter the union vote.

Romney seems to be evolving into the best Republican to take on Obama.
