Blakeman slams botched NYC enclave map, says historical immigrants ‘left behind’ by Hochul, Mamdani:

They get no respect.

Traditional immigrant groups that built the Big Apple are being shoved aside by City Hall, Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman told reporters from the heart of Italian culture in the Bronx.

Speaking on Arthur Avenue, Blakeman said Italian, Irish, Polish, Jewish and German communities are “being left behind” by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani — who sparked controversy by leaving the city’s two Little Italy neighborhoods off an immigrant enclave map released over the summer.

“I do think there is an attack on the immigrants that built this county, that buit this state and built this city,” the Nassau County executive said. “I think they’re being left behind by this current administration here in New York City and the governor.

“They don’t recognize the achievements that those immigrants made,” Blakeman said.

Mamdani’s “New York City Immigrant Enclaves” map identified 30 immigrant communities marked with flags across the five boroughs — but omitted Little Italy, one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.

A red-faced Mamdani said the city would be making “additional changes” to the botched map in the future, “including Little Italy.” He even tried to blame former Mayor Eric Adams for the blunder.

But the damage was done, with critics, including the City Council Italian Caucus, calling the map “incomplete at best and insulting at worst” in July. --->READ MORE HERE

GOP’s Bruce Blakeman backs ‘guest worker’ program for illegal migrants — but there’s a catch:

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman is campaigning on a “guest worker” program for “undocumented” laborers who have lived in the US for seven years and haven’t committed a crime.

Blakeman, in a mailer sent to voters in suburban Westchester County, said he would “protect undocumented labor that helps Westchester families,” in a policy that differentiates him from the Trump administration.

Blakeman, the Nassau County executive, insisted during a Post interview that his support for a guest worker program wasn’t a break from Trump, who endorsed him, and not inconsistent with a cooperation deal with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement he struck in Nassau.

“So what I’m doing is talking to a number of Republican legislators in Congress who feel there should be a guest worker program for two reasons: One, it’s common sense. Two, it’s compassionate,” Blakeman said during a campaign stop Sunday near Yankee Stadium.

“I think we should have a guest worker program because the farmers need those workers,” he added. “Hospitality, healthcare, landscapers, there’s a lot of different industries that need those workers, and so that makes common sense.”

Blakeman, who has previously mentioned the policy during his campaign, also said there should be a “path for legality” for illegal or undocumented laborers who haven’t committed a crime.

“If you’ve been here and haven’t gotten in trouble, you’re gainfully employed, you’re not on welfare, there should be a path for legality. Not citizenship, but legality,” Blakeman said. --->READ MORE HERE
