She is living on stolen land.
It was just a bit of virtue-signaling, an attempt to reaffirm that she is a worthy member of the big club that you ain’t in, but it has backfired on pop singer Billie Eilish in a big way, opening her up to an embarrassing amount of ridicule. Last Sunday night at the Grammys, Eilish stated: “No one is illegal on stolen land.” Now a Los Angeles law firm has offered to evict Eilish from her sumptuous multimillion-dollar mansion and turn it over to the Native American tribe from whom the land on which it sits was supposedly stolen.
Eilish’s statement didn’t make any sense in the first place, although the Grammys crowd, eager to demonstrate that they, too, loved Big Brother, applauded it enthusiastically. After all, the idea of stolen land rests on the assumption that land can be owned, and thus that some people can occupy it legally while others would be on it only illegally. Thus if there is any stolen land at all, then some people might be illegally on that land.
Either land cannot be stolen and so no one is illegal, or land can be stolen and so some people may be illegal. But what Billie Eilish said, that no one is illegal on stolen land, cannot possibly be true.
Eilish dug the hole for herself even deeper, continuing: “And yeah, it’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now. And I just — I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and keep protesting. And our voices really do matter and the people matter, and f**k ICE. That’s all I’m going to say. Sorry. Thank you so much.”
Here’s what Billie Eilish can do right now: she can prove her sincerity by vacating her $3 million Los Angeles mansion. The Tongva tribe, which is supposedly the indigenous inhabitants of the Los Angeles area, stated: “We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarity regarding the recent comments made by Billie Eilish. As the First People of the greater Los Angeles basin, we do understand that her home is situated in our ancestral land. A brash California law firm has offered to help evict Billie Eilish on behalf of the Native American tribe that owns the land under the singer’s multimillion-dollar Los Angeles mansion, after the pop star’s self-righteous rant at the Grammys backfired.
Los Angeles-based Sinai Law Firm — touting itself as the premier eviction firm in the county — quipped that it would represent the Tongva tribe pro bono, following the 24-year-old’s claim that “no one is illegal on stolen land” during her acceptance speech Sunday.
“Sinai Law Firm is offering to evict Billie Eilish from her Los Angeles home on a pro bono basis on behalf of the Tongva Tribe,” the firm said in a press release Tuesday.
The owner of the firm told The Post that the offer was made tongue in cheek — but highlights the “Bad Guy” singer’s hypocrisy.
“Obviously, the post was satirical, but I do think the use of language of ‘stolen land’ is often used to silence valid political debate,” principal attorney Avi Sinai told The Post, adding that he had not heard from Eilish’s reps.
“And it’s incredibly hypocritical of Hollywood elites to preach from their gated and guarded property,” he said.
The Tongva tribe, whose ancestral lands include the Los Angeles Basin and the Channel Islands, previously said in the wake of Eilish’s outburst that the pop star hadn’t reached out to them about returning her $3 million home. --->READ MORE HERE
