Would you allow your parents to live in this Shit Hole?

I don't care what their rules are there or what the residents agree to. This is UNACCEPTABLE:
The death of an 87-year-old woman who did not receive CPR in her central California retirement community was a tragedy waiting to happen, long-term care housing experts say.
A nurse at Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield, Calif., refused to give Lorraine Bayless CPR after she collapsed last Tuesday in the dining room and was barely breathing. The nurse called 911 for help, saying it was against the facility's policy for staff to give CPR.
"It's a human being," dispatcher Tracey Halvorson says on a 911 tape released Sunday by the Bakersfield Fire Department. It was aired by many media outlets Monday.
"Is there anybody that's willing to help this lady and not let her die?"
"Um, not at this time,'' the nurse said. Bayless was declared dead at Mercy Southwest Hospital later Tuesday.

This was listed on a site pushing this facility under Services/Activities:

  • Staff available 24 hours a day for residents convenience or in case of emergency.
They should add to that description: 'to dial 911, then stand around with our thumbs up our collective ass and do nothing'.

Bosman, I heard a statement from the family that the woman chose this facility BECAUSE she knew of the policy and did not want her life prolonged. I am not FOR dr assisted suicide, but I do think people have the right to have a "Do not rescusitate" honored. My grandfather's wishes to my mother were very clear--only medical procedures to improve the quality of my life, none to extend it. I don't know what religion this lady is, but I know that Mormon's views toward death are often very different than society's in general. My father-in-law is not Mormon, but has spent most of his adult life among them, is still surprised by the lack of fear many of his friends exhibit vs. his own fear of death. Even Harold Bloom, bigoted Yale scholar that he is, acknowledges that he has never seen any group that handles death so comfortably as Mormons do.
