Ernest Borgnine a Great American

Ernest Borgnine died on Sunday at the age of 95. The Associated Press reported that Borgnine died of renal failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his wife and children at his side. The phrase "Great American" is used often now, sometimes overused, but Mr. Borgnine, IMHO, was a Great American in every way. He enriched our culture through his movie & TV appearances, bringing us the stories that all can relate to in our lives.

Here's a video from Borgnine’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” with photos from his childhood and snips from his most memorable films. Ernest, may you rest in peace, we will miss you. My condolences to your family.

Borgnine made a movie called, 'Marty'

No special effects, no nudity, no speed chases, no dead bodies or blood, madewith very little money.

All the movie had was great writing, great dialog, and GREAT ACTING especially by Borgnine who went on to win an oscar for Best Actor.

If you haven't seen this movie, track it down, you won't be sorry.

HERE is the trailer for the movie

HERE Borgnine talks about the night he won "Best Actor"

Before his health failed, he spent a lot of time crossing the country in his Home on Wheels. HERE is a segment from part of that trip. There is more HERE.

They don't make them like Ernist Borgnine anymore....To Bad!

I loved Marty...the thing about Borgnine was his humanity. We could all tell what he was feeling. I just loved the old boy.
