What Do You Read?

I had a conversation with Right Wingnut about daily reading, and I am curious to hear what the Right Speak community reads on a daily basis.

Here is my reading plan, which often changes and depends greatly on how much time I have.

My priority, since I want to work someday in foreign policy, is to read international news. For that I have found that The New York Times and The Washington Post are the best. One of the blogs at Foreign Policy, Passport, has a daily morning brief highlighting the news from around the world. For sure, I check that out in the morning. My daily links that I post everyday at my blog largely stem from that reading. I also check out Realclearworld.com (I was an intern there for a while) daily.

As far as American politics, I read Politico, Right Speak (of course), Frum Forum, Andrew Sullivan's blog, and GOP-12. Sometimes I check out Race42012 and The Moderate Voice. It takes me about 20 minutes to cover all of that.

Again, depending on my time, there are a host of great blogs out there that I check regularly. They mostly deal with international analysis and they are typically led by academics. You can go to my blog to get the links since I am too lazy to post them here.

I think that it is important to read a wide range of views. I recently requested to post on another conservative blog, and the owner told me that he didn't want anything that was self-reflective of the conservative movement. He told me that his audience wants to have their prior beliefs reinforced and that conservative sites like the Frum Forum do not do well because they challenge the accepted dogma. I find this to be a terrible way to operate. Conservatives need to self-reflective and to understand all sides of an issue. Anyway, I digress.
