Sarah Palin discusses Mitt Romney and other issues on Fox News Sunday (VIDEO 06-05-11)

Just a side note to this video. If you missed it, it's at the 7:40 minute mark. Sarah Palin mentioned that she doesn't like Romneys health care mandate in Massachusets. As she puts it:

"What I did in the state of Alaska, and that was to usher in as much as I could strong efforts to allow competition and more private decisions being made between the health care recipient and their doctor or their insurance company. That's what I engaged in and that's a difference in philosophy"

Gallup had a poll on Health care that points out that:

Massachusetts was NUMBER 1 in the LEAST amount of uninsured citizens
Alaska was NUMBER 38 with 20.2% of it's citizens uninsured.

So Sarah, you may have had a different philosophy than Mitt as Governor of Alaska, but it didn't seem to translate into positive results for your state.

SOURCE

Oh, and BTW, as a born in Boston, lived in Massachusetts my whole life kinda guy, Sarah...Just say you screwed up on Paul Revere.

Now I admit I don't carry a Palinese translation book and perhaps I should. But for the life of me, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. You're only digging yourself into a deeper hole.

  1. I actually thought she was rather supportive of Mitt. Just because another governor would make different decisions, does not mean they are attacking. She even referred to Mitt's commitment to the 10th amendment and expressed confidence that he'd run the country in fiscally sound manner.

In my state, Louisiana, we have an even worse percentage covered (we seem to be at or near the bottom on a lot of things--sigh). I don't hear anyone criticizing Bobby Jindal on health care.

In case she doesn't run, she's saying all the right things to not eliminate Mitt as someone she could potentially endorse.

  2. hey bosman,

just curious since you live in massachusetts, how do you like your healthcare?

  3. Bosman, Palin always doubles down on errors, you know that! ha ha.

One more excruciating interview. She has become a parody of herself. This has been a week of complete nonsense.

She is the least articulate politician I can ever remember hearing in my life. And that includes everyone from local on up.

I'm sorry, it's time to move on from Sarah Palin and get serious about the next election.

I'm from Massachusetts. My health insurance under Romney went down. It only started to creep back up when Governor Patrick started playing around with the system and the fees in which helped pay for it.

Patrick also pretty much added to it everything that Romney refused to put in the original bill.

The mandate doesn't bother me or most of those we know. We had insurance to begin with. We weren't freeriders milking the system

  5. For those interested, there is quite a brouhaha going on over at Wikipedia, where Sarah Palin supporters are being accused of hijacking the Paul Revere entry by trying to add Palin’s version of ringing bells and warning the British, etc. and trying to quote Sarah Palin (and the papers that quoted her) as experts on the subject.

  6. Palin's interview with Wallace was completely scripted. She was fed answers via teleprompter for the entire interview and still screwed up.

  7. Bosman,

You're pathetic. Your own hometown paper can admit she's right, WHY CAN'T YOU? Or, at least leave it alone and move on to the next manufactured Palin controversey. Just get it over with and turn it to a Romney site. You're not going to get the Palin traffic anyway.

Experts back Sarah Palin’s historical account

    You betcha she was right!

    From Boston Herald:

Sarah Palin yesterday insisted her claim at the Old North Church last week that Paul Revere “warned the British” during his famed 1775 ride — remarks that Democrats and the media roundly ridiculed — is actually historically accurate. And local historians are backing her up.

Palin prompted howls of partisan derision when she said on Boston’s Freedom Trail that Revere “warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.”

Palin insisted yesterday on Fox News Sunday she was right: “Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms.”

In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”

Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”

    ReplyDelete
  8. LA Times:

You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?

You may have heard recently something about that Sarah Palin telling a reporter that Paul Revere warned the British on his famous rousing revolutionary ride.

Now, that so many Americans have wallowed in their smug confirmation that Palin is an idiot unqualified for anything but repeating sixth-grade history, how far, wide and fast do you think the contradictory news will spread that the former governor of Alaska was indeed correct?

That the Republican non-candidate, in fact, knew more about the actual facts of Revere's midnight ride than all those idiots unknowingly revealing their own ignorance by laughing at her faux faux pas? How secretly embarrassing this must be, to be forced to face that you know less than such a reputed dummy.

As it happens, though, such phenomena are regular occurrences in American politics, reminding consumers of news to be wary when some fresh story seems to fit contemporary assumptions so absolutely perfectly.

The well-known fable is Revere's late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that....

...the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American revolution's inevitable victory.
Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin's latest mis-speak, which wasn't.

Like a number of famous faux gaffes in American politics, the facts of the situation no longer really matter.

The initial impression was eagerly grabbed by so many, starting with the reporter and millions of others gleefully sharing the story that reinforced their beliefs and/or desires.

  9. Revere ‘Warned’ the British Officers
“At last the [British] officers began to feel the full import of what Paul Revere had been telling them. His words of warning took on stronger meaning when punctuated by gunfire. The sound of a single shot had suggested to them that surprise was lost. The crash of a volley appeared evidence that the country was rising against them. As they came closer to the Common they began to hear Lexington’s town bell clanging rapidly. the captive Loring, picking up Revere’s spirit, turned to the officers and said, ‘The bell’s a’ringing! The town’s alarmed, and you’re all dead men!’”

  11. Martha, I am beginning to think that maybe your comprehension is questionable.

If you did cringe, then I believe that was a gesture of fear as you are slowly realizing that Romney has an actual opponent in Sarah Palin.

  12. Well RWN,

I don't want to get to harsh with you because you may turn suicidal and run off in a crying, self pitying rage. So instead, I'll present this question, Do you really think that in all that excitement, Paul Revere said to himself, I better bring a bell?

Have you ever tried riding a horse at full gallop and ringing a bell at the same time?

As to PATHETIC, I'm not the GIRLY MAN who gets all flustered when someone doesn't agree with him. Then runs off in a huff. THAT'S PATHETIC!

  13. Bosman, your credibility is wavering...not a good place to be for the owner of a Republican blog. You might want to consider checking your facts before writing your pieces. You have a good opportunity here to run a quality blog. If you remember, Race was invited to the Republican convention last time around...if you get serious and stop the ad nauseum Mitt building and any-other-candidate trashing maybe you'll be invited to the conversation as well.

  15. Bosman, the facts are the facts!!! Don't be mad at Palin or RW because you don't know your history. It doesn't matter anyway, because the damage has already been done with the Paul Revere thing...it will live on like Russia. So, in the end, Romney benefits from Palin actually being correct.

I am a Romney supporter. I was a strong supporter of him from the beginning.

To tell you the truth, I'm getting sick of the Palin supporters SITTING ON THEIR ASS complaining that Palin isn't getting a fare shake here.

If you want pro-Palin posts, WRITE A FEW!

  17. BTW Bosman, I appreciate you posting the video. What did you think of her overall performance? Some are saying she could be a serious candidate, not just for the nomination, after that interview...what are your thoughts?

  18. BTW, Revere wasn't ring any F#%#ING BELL while doing the ride as Palin said.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Is this what we're resorting to now...you find out your wrong and rather than man up and admit it...you look for one detail that might have sounded incorrect the day she was stealing Romney's thunder?

    jerseyrepublican

BTW, what did you think of the rest of the article?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll reserve judgment on the quality of her interviews when I see her do a few NON FOX ones.

  24. You mean like the 17 non Fox news interviews she took during her bus tour? Or perhaps like the Long Island q&a? I asked an honest question, thinking I could have an adult dialogue with the owner of the site. What good is this place if the premise of every interaction becomes intellectually volatile? I enjoy discussing, debating the days political news...you should try it sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "You're pathetic. Your own hometown paper can admit she's right, WHY CAN'T YOU?" Shhhhh, don't you know the narrative: Fact do not matter.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bosman, I understand what the digg meant. If she runs for President she will do those interviews. As of now, she is not running for President and she is employed by Fox. RIght now we have that interview to judge. The word on the street is that she did an excellent job...just wondering what your opinion of the interview was. Obviously my biased viewpoint felt she did a great job. She was talking policy and had some good ideas about how to move forward in Afghanistan and Libya. She talked about the hard truth involving entitlements. She pretty much ran the gamut as far as current affairs go. I cannot believe that you have no opinion on the things she brought up in the interview?

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  30. jersey....

If he has no opinion, that means she did a good job and he won't admit it.

    A.J.R.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Also Bosman, you're assuming that she had previous knowledge about what questions she was going to be asked...you have no proof of that but you're probably right...everyday she is engaged in political discussion and current affairs...so she would have to be the moron you think she is by not figuring out what Wallace was going to ask. Not all that difficult.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bosman...

I would also like to see the proof that Palin had previous knowledge of the questions that Wallace asked.

    A.J.R.

    ReplyDelete
  33. AJR, I know but there is a lot of material to discuss about that interview. She talked policy for the majority of it...isn't that what the Rombots always criticize her for not doing? They got their wish, now what do they think of her stances on the policies? I don't think that's such an unreasonable question for me to ask.

    jerseyrepublican

  36. jersey,

I don't think it is unreasonable for you to ask either but the bulk of the Rombots always go silent when Palin does well in interviews (i.e. discussing policy).

    ReplyDelete
  39. AJR, you're right they either go silent, or they insist that she knew the questions before hand or that she was fed the answers during the interview.

In all honesty, when I read these comments I get a little angry but mostly I laugh because if they underestimate her this much...let's just say that I hope they continue to underestimate Sarah Palin in the uneducated way that they do. I hope Romney and T-Paw and Obama underestimate her in the exact same way.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  40. AJR,

    Take a D E E P breath.

I don't need to present proof that Palin had the answers ahead of time.
    That's YOUR ASSUMPTION.

I said, I would reserve my comments on the quality of he interviews and the depth of her knowledge when I see he do an IN DEPTH INTERVIEW in a NON FOX format.

Kind of like Mitt Romney did the other day on CBS. When he lectured Erica Hill on Bankruptcy.

BTW, You ought to view it, it'd QUITE GOOD!

    ReplyDelete
  41. BTW,

What grade do you give the success of Palin's efforts in Health Care while a half-term Governor of Alaska?

    ReplyDelete
  42. To any and all sheep who say Paul Revere used a bell and fired gun shots during his midnight ride...

You are totally incorrect. I live in Massachusetts. I have studied our history thoroughly.

Paul Revere's ride was intended to be quiet and stealthy. He was trying to avoid alerting the British who lived in town.

Revere went door-to-door to revolutionary households to quietly alert them the British were coming.

Palin was incorrect. She clearly has not done her homework. And anyone here who are pretending she is correct... you are showing your true colors of being emotionally tied to Palin and defending her at every chance you get.

You are making yourselves look pretty bad. I take my credibility seriously, and I hope you all do that some day.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bos,

Thanks for the advice but I don't need to take a deep breath. You are the one flipping out...not me.

BTW....I do watch Romney on other formats and believe me, I am way more fair to him than you and the Rombots ever are to Palin or any other candidate for that matter.

    A.J.R.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bosman as Palin said in the interview...it's a matter of differing philosophies. Just the fact that she didn't sign a bill into law, introducing mandates to the masses, which ultimately led to inspiring ObamaCare...I'd have to give her a better grade than Mr. Romney.

Also, you did suggest that she had the questions beforehand...if you're going to outright lie about what you wrote...then you should, at least, be smart enough to delete that comment.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  45. A.J.R.

So you admit that Paul Revere did not ring any bells or fire any shots?

And you admit his Midnight Ride was not intended to warn the British?

Because that's what the Boston Herald article said.

And clearly Palin was wrong about that aspect of the story.

    Facts are stubborn things.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Bos,

I don't care what she did for Health Care in Alaska. I don't want the government involved in Health Care. I'm glad you are happy with what Romney did in MA. Whatever floats your boat.

BTW...The Half-term Governor slam is getting old. We get it. You need to get a new Palin dig. Why don't you talk to Ellie or Martha....I'm sure they have plenty of good new insults. Or you can go to this loony Palin-hating site. I bet you can find some great new insults there.

    http://malialitman.wordpress.com/

I'm sure Ellie would give that site two thumbs up.

    A.J.R.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sam, I believe she said the colonists were ringing the bells and firing the warning shots.

What you people don't get is that she had just taken a tour and the info was probably passed on during the tour. Knowing it was one of those unknown facts about Revere's, "WILD RIDE," she baited the press and they ran with it.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  48. If you would watch the video with an open mind you will see that she's reading the coherent comments from a teleprompter. When she gets manic and babyish...she uses her very own word salad. Sarah remains, a lying phony....and Fox helps her do it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. jerseyrepublican

So if Romneycare led to Obamacare, what would have happened INSTEAD of Obamacare if Romney never passed Romneycare?

SINGLE PAYER, GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE.

And why did Obama OPPOSE Romneycare in his 2008 campaign? Why did he flip-flop on mandates? Why did he bribe Senators to vote for Obamacare? And why did Obama never consult Mitt about health care, if he was so inspired by his plan?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sam, you are correct...they are stubborn things...read and learn.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  53. jerseyrepublican

The actual statement is that Paul Revere sounded warning shots and rang his bell.

And if the information was fed to her during the bus tour, why didn't she know it in the first place?

And why did she look so dumbfounded and uncomfortable when she paused and said "He warned the........... *deer in headlights look* British that...

Let's just say Palin's problems are far worse than her lack of knowledge of American history. And they mostly have to do with her thin skin and whining.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sam, let me get this straight...we should applaud Romney for passing MassCare because if he hadn't then maybe we would have ended up with a single payer system? Seriously? I think your posting privileges should be revoked for one week for attempting to make that argument.

    jerseyrepublican

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rombots would know plenty about thin skin and whining. All you do is cry like babies whenever they is any criticism of your hero. Get ready for plenty of criticism if Romney is the GOP nominee because the mainstream media is going to rake him over the coals. Hope you guys and gals can take it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 9:04 was me.

    A.J.R.

    ReplyDelete
  57. JR,

If I had proof that she had the questions ahead of time, WHY would I need to see her in unfriendly territory?

I'm simply pointing out that SHE'S ON FOXES PAYROLL, and she did a FOX INTERVIEW.

By performing well in a non-Fox stting with an indepth interview, it would put any doubts I have, to rest.

Now you can READ INTO that any way you like. I know you will.

    ReplyDelete
  58. jerseyrepublican

So you admit you were wrong about Palin's misunderstanding of Paul Revere's ride? If so, I am proud of you.

My point about Romneycare was simple. You cannot blame him for Obamacare.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sam, it really doesn't matter at this point anyway...the damage has been done...sure she was vindicated by Revere's own writings and Revolutionary War scholars at the Revere House but you might be right, she might have misspoke about ringing bells...so that completely refutes every other portion of the statement that were facts...you know the important parts.

But like I said...it doesn't matter anyway...the damage was done. If it hasn't hurt her image yet...it will so you guys should be happy. I know Palin FACTS matter little to her detractors so you guys have another claim to fame. Congrats!!!

    jerseyrepublican

Palin is so much more interesting that her clambake pushed Romney's announcement from 1st page news to 3rd page news...he couldn't even warrant 2nd page after Palin's clambake - that must hurt!!!

Also, I hope she runs. She will be in the spotlight every day. Pawlenty will go nowhere, and Mitt will be the anti-Palin candidate.

And New Hampshire (where I grew up) will never vote for Palin.

    RUN SARAH RUN!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Based on Sam's arguments, we should be thankful for ObamaCare too. Afterall, Obama wanted single payer.

  87. You're right JR!

So one needs to write the truth a bout Palin, to bring you guys out.

    I'M SO INSPIRED NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  88. ...because not only did he look pathetic echoing Al Gore's position, but he looked weak in doing so. He just doesn't have what it takes. The man has won ONE election...and only won ONE primary in '08 despite outspending all of his opponents combined. What makes anyone think it will be different now? Especially since he seems to be running as the moderate candidate.

  89. All kidding aside...I can honestly say that I will vote for Romney if he is our nominee...of course Obama might be the conservative choice in that match up...hahaha JK - I'd vote for Romney!!!

  96. This business about how Mitt cannot make the front page of the Union Leader newspaper...

As someone from New Hampshire, the Union Leader, while it is Conservative, it is a hackjob organization like Fox News (and it's no coincidence both supported McCain in 2008).

The Union Leader hates Romney, and loves to make money off Palin.

No worries. Mitt is going to win NH big time. Good luck using media coverage as a barometer of the voters.

    Great Idea!!!

  103. AJR, I don't mind the Lady Gaga jokes...what Bosman doesn't realize is that her music is well respected and she is supposed to be a pretty smart lady. If he wants to make the comparison...all power to him.

  104. AJR,

What have you got against Lady Gaga?

    Maybe her STICK-TO-IT-NESS?
Hels a job and hasn't quit on her fans?
    Draws larger crowds?
    What?

  105. Everybody knows, the butt of a joke never likes the joke.

I thought Bosman's Lady Gaga = Sarah Palin joke is rather funny (and accurate).

    ReplyDelete
  106. My, my what an interesting collection of some snarky remarks!

While I've never been a Palin groupee, I've appreciated the energy she has brought the R party. I believe she been smeared numerous times by the left and sometimes by the right. (Oh, that the MSM had vetted Obama.....oh, but they didn't want to do THAT!) I totally support her right to say what she wants. I will be honest and say I thought it was "tacky" by not showing a little "respect" for Romney's announcement, as I believe, MOST OTHER possible candidates would've have done. I do not think Romney would've done that to anyone else as neither would Santorum, Bachmann, etc. Just my opinion.

The Paul Revere story........I'm just wondering how many others previously knew that segment of the story? Did even her supporters have to go research it out? I would've!

I know I would make mistakes doing as much talking as Palin does, but certainly the "controversary" could've been avoided by realizing MANY are NOT familiar with that part of the story. She could've communicated that fact.......and THEN educated others on the "rest of the story." There could be responsibility on her part as well as the media's part.

That being said.........why don't we move on beyond the "ugliness" and concentrate on winning the WH, the Senate and retaining the House?! We need to concentrate on Jobs, the Economy and our Freedoms! There is NO perfect candidate. Looking for one will be disastrous. As Haley Barbour admonished us: "The MAIN THING is to keep the MAIN THING, the MAIN THING!"

    AMEN!

    ReplyDelete

I agree that we all should unite. But how could we? We're all "frothing loons!"

    ReplyDelete
  108. Amen, I appreciate your input. It was honest and thoughtful...now go mind your own business and let us have our little Monday morning fun.

    HAHAHAHA

In the end we will all support the nominee, not all of us (some of the Romney supporters have already admitted that they couldn't vote for Palin and others have already admitted that they voted for President Obama last time around) but the rational ones will vote for whoever our nominee is!!!

    jerseyrepublican

  109. This reminds me of a movie I saw probably a couple of decades ago--"About Last Night." Rob Lowe's and James Belushi's characters are at work in their restaurant supplies sales jobs and at one point get in a heated argument which ends up with the following exchange:

    "F#%& you!"

    "No, F#%& you!

    "NO, F#%& YOU!

The boss shows up and they quickly pick up phones and pretend they're on sales calls.

Anyway, one outcome of all this ado is that many people will, or have been, motivated to study up on American history. If that can get people thinking about what the colonists were originally fighting for, that's a good thing--and is more important than whether Sarah was right or wrong on whichever point.

If people can then see where Obama and crew are trying to deviate from the values the founding fathers intended for the country, then hopefully some will wake up and be ready to vote against that direction.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hey AMEN,

WHO do you think Barbour was REALLY talking to when he said all that?

Perhaps those who let the term "THIRD PARTY" cross their lips without dismissing it as a DEAD END?

  112. Bosman,

Palin made it clear that she doesn't want to be a third party. If somone chooses to go that route, it will not be her. She simply "ringing the bells" and "firing the shots" as a warning that it COULD HAPPEN if the GOP does not stick to the fundamentals of the party. She's absolutley right.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yes, Palin is warning Obama that she's going to run against him, but she hasn't been knocking on doors and getting her organization together!!!!

    WHAT A COMPARISON!!!!!!

  118. Palin's popularity at the clam bake was not by serious politicians or serious voters. Her popularity was within the celebrity paparazzi segment who will follow anyone around.. Paris Hilton, Pee Wee Herman, etc. Sarah remains, a lying fraud. She is not running for anything except money.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Has Palin claimed that Paul Revere friended her on Facebook yet?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Bosman,

Regardless, you know as well as I that there are many in the tea party movement that have threatened a third party. Palin is not one of them. She said it could happen, but hopes it does not. The consequences don't need much of an explanation.

BTW...Weren't you the guy trashing Reagan last night on Race. You basically were calling him a liberal so Romney could get some Conservative cred (at least that is what that Smack guy & teledude thought). 134. Actually AJR,

Reagan was responsible for the MA Health Care Mandate.

During his administration, he passed a MANDATE (Law) requiring hospitals to treat anyone in their emergency rooms regardless of insurance.

Hence, the birth of the "FREERIDER"!

    ReplyDelete
  135. AJR (AKA SMACK)

Yeah, I was trashing the great American hero Reagan for ending the Cold War and restoring America's position as #1 in the world... yep

You saw the conversation (since you were part of it the whole time) and you willfully disregarded my points about how Reagan would lose the GOP primary today.

Which he would, of course. He didn't balance the budget, used to be a Democrat, and used to be pro-life. And Reagan was proof that you don't have to meet every God Damn litmus test to be a great president.

  144. JR,

Well stated. If Palin gets a fair shake, and falls short...I can live with that and commit to supporting the nominee. However, if she DOES NOT get a fair shake, all bets are off. But, my vote is unlikely to matter anyway. I live in MN.

If she's "stupid" and unqualified," the Rombots and GOP establishment hacks shouldn't have anything to worry about.

  166. Last week was quite a week, because if Sarah wanted to attract attention, she did! Lucky for us, she attracted the worst kind of attention. Each day brought a memorable moment or quote: Piper pushing and trying block reporters, Sarah explaining that the "Statute" of Liberty was a reminder not to make the mistake that other countries made (Give me your tired and poor.....), and her own special version of Paul Revere's Wild Ride with guns blazing and bells ringing (Sarah never was very good at explaining Midnight Rides. Her description of her own Midnight Ride was equally off the mark). If things weren't bad enough, she stole the attention from Romney who was trying announce his candidacy (while Sarah plays the tease, will she or won't she, but please donate to her PAC). Rounding out her Excellent Adventure, even the do-over explanation of Paul Revere warning the British not to take our arms may play well with the NRA but not the history teachers. The fact that her pee-people tried to change Wikipedia to represent Palin's version makes it look as bad as their gaming the vote at DWTS. In the end, we've had a good show! Gas up the bus, Sarah, Michele Bachmann is heading to Waterloo, Iowa, and Rick Santorum is waiting in the wings. Does Jon Stewart ever want for material for his show?
