Palin was on her game in liberal Madison, WI this afternoon. She spent the majority of the speech eviscerating Obama, but she also had a few harsh words for the GOP establishment. Apparently she's not overly impressed with the latest "spending cuts." The most intriguing part of the speech was the conclusion. The next few weeks should be most interesting.

Palin sounds like a cross between an angry Lisa Simpson and the out of control Hilary clip Rush was so fond of playing.
Doug, you are right. Women are at a disadvantage in the voice dept. Screechy and shrill is hard to avoid when you want to raise your voice during a political speech.
ReplyDeleteI think if she runs, she needs to remember to tone it down and just speak real close to the mic in a regular voice. Contrast this with Obama, and you lose.
As far as content goes, she's way off in criticizing the deal the other day. We're in this for the long haul, and to get anywhere we have to play it smart. Otherwise, there is NO CHANCE for real reform--the kind Ryan is talking about. Talk radio and the fanatics would kill our chance for reform in one shot.

4. Palin looks like she is remaining a talk radio conservative as opposed to a Governance Republican. She would prefer to shut down the government in order to make her tea party base happy.

I also found the "Fight like a girl" line a little hollow, considering her....how shat I say this...duration in office.

ReplyDeleteI think that it is a combination of her voice being shrill, her accent, her populist one liners, her bizarre syntax, and her whiney tone.
Having said that, I think that Palin should be judged by the merits of her words, and not how difficult it is to listen to her.
I guess she's paying attention to Romney. (Hehe) The bullet train line is Romney's, I believe.

Pablo, to each his own...her voice doesn't bother me...it's a voice of a person who is sick and tired of business as usual. I do, however, find it funny that when her detractors cannot find a valid point with the substance of her speech...they resort to superficial reasons as to why they don't like her.

Doug, because he didn't judge her by the merits of her words, his viewpoint of her is myopic at best. He is ill-informed and chooses to be. He writes posts how horrible Americans are because they don't understand the over-inflated and under funded federal budget yet he chooses to not research Palin's resume' because it will get in the way of his simplistic theories.

BTW, I actually feel bad because Pablo used to be one of my favorite posters to read. In fact I have spent a little time at his blog discussing some issues with him but now he is on a crusade of elitism. He chooses to degrade his fellow Republican to feel more superior on the pages of the Frum forum. That is why, for the most part, I have stopped reading his work.
Also, just so you don't feel left out...sometimes you can be a douche' bag too but you weren't always that way.

Those on the ground couldn't hear a single word she said. She was completely drowned out by the boos. The union supporters greatly outnumbered the tea party by approx 10:1. When she came onto the stage she was shaking and never seemed to get over the booing. She cut her screech short by about five minutes and then ran. She still is not even close to be presidential. I actually felt a little sorry for her today.

Agreed. I would love to be half as “dumb” as she is and half as well-spoken. She articulates what so many American citizens are thinking and she does so in a way that is honest, blunt and without meaningless, worthless rhetoric and platitudes. While the media and the elitist beltway folks prattle on about how “unserious” and “dumb” she is – and how her accent is just too icky- we all are listening to her thoughtful, insightful and common-sense words. And we are seeing the passion and strength with which they are delivered.

She projected strength, intelligence, confidence and a command of the issues that confront our country. She took the establishment GOP to task for their budget compromise, the MSM for their ineptitude and the President for his dangerous and reckless policies.

It's ironic to watch so many so called establishment Republicans who seem to want to be leader of the free world dance their way around the more serious political battles of our time. They criticize, they pontificate, or editorialize, yet from ObamaCare to a budget deal, they're also careful to not too directly engage. As I said to a friend and colleague tonight, wherever the current battle is, that's very often where you can find Palin. One of the first requirements for leadership is to show up out front. No one will ever accuse Palin of not doing that. Doing so also has an interesting side benefit for any would be leader. When you lead, people tend to follow and support you, even if not at first.
Until now, I've never ventured a guess as to whether, or not Palin is running in 2012. Tonight, for the first time, I think I can. It's going to be one hell of a fight, so why would Sarah Palin not show up?

ReplyDeletePalin’s Madison speech reminds us of some important things. She’s not in the least bit afraid of a tough crowd. She’ll hold members of her party accountable if they don’t keep their word. She is passionate about the Tea Party movement and isn’t about to abandon her conservative principles in order to fit in with what’s cool in D.C. And she is one tough cookie.
Most importantly, Sarah Palin sounds ready, willing, and able to tackle the Obama agenda. Like I always say, let the games begin.
Don't hold your breath. If she runs it will be as a tea party candidate. How smart is that? I'm sure even you know that the GOP will not have her.

Jersey, it is easier for Pablismo and his little friends to call us racists than to confront Capitalism. I doubt whether any of these people or their family members even experience racism. Once upon a time, some lady told my wife "hopefully your son's skin will turn lighter." This comment was said before the Tea Party was even so.
